"nothing truly great ever came from a comfort zone." This applies to any kind of system, not just sports: Health, social justice, personal and community advancement, and so on. We know whose comfort zone we're all supposed to respect, whereas as Black women* we're being pushed to ignore our own boundaries, self care and health. We're not supposed to have or communicate our own 'comfort zone'. When we do, we receive all kinds of aggression. That's a complicated starting point for us: when we stay in perceived safety, we're treating ourselves, but also miss out on potential strength and experience gains. When we strive & venture out, we can easily push ourselves too hard and mercilessly. Finding this balance is a sport of its own, a lifelong dialogue with our heart. Push yourself beyond your comfort zones every once in a while, but the right ones, not the self punishment colonial kinda crap, Peak out of those 'comfort' zones which are holding back your *real* power and personality. You know what these are. They're intimidating to break because what's lying beyond is - just like yourself - too potentially MAGNIFICENT and AWESOME 💖. . . #inspiration #empowerment #blackwomen #empoweredbyiron #selfcare #comfortzone
