“Man, my pastries turned out pretty good!” He grimaces as he opens the oven, carefully maneuvering his hands so as not to burn them.

“Yours turned out pretty great too.” Enviously, he takes a glance at Haru’s pastries which look so much softer and puffier than his do - more appetizing to the eye. He knew it was the taste that mattered most but he still couldn’t help but wonder where he’d gone wrong.

“Did you do anything differently...?” He carefully picks up one of his own pastries, turning it over in his gloved hand.

Occasionally, the heiress decided to eat lunch with her friends during break instead of attending to her garden or her finishing up her other school duties. She’d seen him on his way to school earlier, he was paler than usual, which only grew her concern for him. She placed a caring hand to his forehead only to be welcomed by a warmer than usual sensation.

“You definitely have a fever Akira-kun. Maybe you should head home early today.”

The thought of going home early made Akira rub the back of his head with an unsure expression.

“I’m not sure about going home early, don’t think Boss’ll want me germing up the cafe with customers there, you know?”  He says, followed with a cough into his hand. He could probably get a mask from the school nurse if anything but the thought of going back to Leblanc when it’s at it’s busiest wasn’t a pleasant one.

“But I really don’t feel that bad, I think I’ll be okay...”

       Such a kind girl. Sahoko bows her head a little in thanks and quickly takes place at the empty booth seat in front of the other girl, her voice barely higher than a whisper when she speaks to her. ❛ Thank you... so much. I’m sorry... for the intrusion. If you’re waiting... for your friends... I’ll leave... when they get here. ❜ She didn’t want to be a bother after all.

“Oh I didn’t know the garden was over here.” He muses, admiring the sight of Shujin’s flower beds and other greenery.

The garden seems to be well-tended to, considering they were growing quite nicely despite the city atmosphere.

He was simply looking for a place to hang out without many people around. The sudden transfer and adjusting to the new environment was starting to catch up to him. Ken had to admit he has been to busy that he kind of forgot to interact with the students in his new school.

“I wonder if I’m allowed to stay here.” The teen wonders. It seemed peaceful   enough to spend his break here.

“It’s alright, I probably should have checked too.” He shrugged his shoulders, inwardly pleased that the girl didn’t appear to be getting angry over a simple mistake.  “Paying close attention has never been my strong suit.” He joked.

“I actually did get one even though I don’t really know what ‘hazelnut’ is.” He runs a hand through his hair, letting out a sheepish smile before adding.  “...My friend and I have a bet going - we want to try everything on the menu at least once.  There have been some good ones and some not so good ones.” He admitted, making a mock disgusted face as he said this.  “But it’s fun!”

“D’you usually get this kind, yourself...? Or do you like to mix it up also?”

Akira was far from a gardener, aside from a class project of growing a sunflower when he was about five, the rumoured delinquent had never grown a plant. Since meeting Haru it seemed he was doing a lot more gardening; helping move fertilizer, sewing seeds, trimming flowers, everything was a new experience…

And with new experiences comes a lot of mistakes, which is why Akira was holding a bleeding finger.

“I’m fine, it was only a little cut...”
