Ugh…
Fine. But only under one condition.
We are going to do a crash course. “Winning Allies 101”. Das Elend kann man sich ja nicht mitansehen.
I actually think we might prove useful to each other, and you seem to be the type I do not need to walk on eggshells around. Which might be pleasant.
What was that?… mmm.. whatever.
Fine, I’ll take your course, lets get started, shall we?
Of course. Allow me to make it a bit more comfortable for us both, though.
Please help yourself to whatever you fancy. I hope you like coffee - then again, I highly doubt that you would have approached me if you had a strong aversion to it in the first place.
Let us make this lesson one. Always treat your allies with a certain minimum of kindness. Those who deserve it will repay you in kind, and those who do not will be led to underestimate you, to think you are letting your guard down. Which means that you will have an advantage over them when they turn against you.
I do not think I have to point out that calling someone you wish to forge a bond with a "bug demon" or "monster" does not exactly mesh well with this rule of thumb. Not every potential ally is as good at swallowing their pride for the greater good as I am.
