Another thing I found out this morning. The British Government, with the permission of the Australian Government, tested nuclear weapons in South Australia. Which meant not only relocating several Aboriginal Communities because they performed the tests on the Anagu people’s land (as if we didn’t steal enough land from them already or anything). The fallout from the testing affected several more Indigenous communities causing the elderly and the young to die from radiation sickness.
If that’s not bad enough for you, the whole reason these test where conducted where so the British Government could see if their troops could still fight if a H bomb hit near them. (This was from a letter sent from one of the troops at the testing that I don’t have access to but was quoted word for word during a play reading I was at the moment that contains many verbatim moments from victims of the nuclear tests.)
Tests where also conducted at Emu Fields and Monte Bello and all the victims have is a plaque that misspells the last two test sights.
