Dayum, sockeye salmon, that's a drastic transformation from "basic fish" to "primordial raging bitchface." Do they actually use those toothy nutcrackers to fight or is it purely display?
they do scuffle a bit but it’s mostly just display, this whole business is because of the lady sockeye’s weird preferences
Please, which book(s) tells the Boba Fett gay stepdad found family plotline you described?
hi! you can read more about it in the novella “boba fett: a practical man” or in the novel series the legacy of the force, particularly the books bloodlines, sacrifice, and revelation. note that the legacy of the force is written in GoT-style, with chapters switching between perspective characters, so they’re not just a straight march of boba fett content 😉 you can always skip around though
.....i should also disclaim that, despite once being a champion of greater racial, sexual, and disabled representation in star wars, the author fell in with the alt right in recent years so... do with that information what you will. not inviting harassment against her in any form, just wanted to include a disclaimer in case anyone would be uncomfortable with buying her books now
For the ship minific: Shay/Katy, #17 things you said I wish you hadn't. :)
Oh man, that was a tough one. Neither belong to me and I really didn’t want to write more missing Shay after all the sad in the last two fics. But then I remembered…
Harper complains about how she sleeps. Like, a lot. It’s all ‘Katy, how do you fit all your hair in my mouth?’ or ‘Ugggghhhh, I’m fine, it’s just you wedged your knee between two of my ribs and now my spine is bent at a permanent 55 degree angle’ or ‘I’ll be down to breakfast once I’ve wrung all the drool out of my shirt’. It’s fine, Katy knows he needs her there and he just likes complaining. If it’s not one of those, it’s about how she likes to watch him when he’s asleep. What’s so ‘creepy’ about seeing your favourite person in all the world looking relaxed and not sad for once?
Besides, that way she knows to wake him if he’s having a nightmare instead. Katy doesn’t ask about them and Harper doesn’t want to talk, but she knows they must be really bad. Harper is just so brave, so anything that makes him shake like that is something that Katy needs to save him from.
There are nights she doesn’t snuggle up to him, of course. Sometimes Harper has somebody to have sex with instead, and although they’re super close it’d just be weird and gross if Katy was there for that. And sometimes Harper needs space, and sometimes she does, and just lately… well, sometimes she’s been sleeping with Shay instead, and just thinking about that makes her fizzy under the skin, like she is too excited and nervous and happy to sit still.
She has a girlfriend, and it’s Shay. Shay who is so cute and shy and muscular and thoughtful and sweet and nerdy about death and– well, she’s Shay. Katy has a girlfriend, and a brother-dad? brother/dad? Honestly she hasn’t quite worked out how to punctuate it. Harper is like a brother and like a dad, like the best of both she’s ever read about rolled into one person who loves her and looks after her and needs looking after himself and all the snuggles she has to give. She never had a brother or a dad before, really, so she’s kind of making it up as she goes along, but Harper doesn’t seem to mind.
They’re here in Tall Trees looking for her actual dad – well, Khem says ‘progenitor’, and although Khem just seems to like big words, Katy thinks she kind of has a point this time. Harper’s her dad (Dather? Brad? NO) in her heart, no matter what she finds out about the guy who gave her wild magic.
That’s what makes it a little… weird. Katy is snuggling into Harper on one side, with Shay on the other and her gorgeous arm is flung over Katy, and this is really amazing. So she should be asleep, but she’s just… thinking a little instead about why all three of them are there.
She’s surrounded by two of the people she loves best, and that bit is great, that bit’s so great, but they’re all there because Shay took Katy by the hand and led her into Harper’s room, and when Harper looked up at them, Shay asked him “I was just wondering if you would be amenable to sleeping with your daughters tonight?”
And Harper had made that face he makes when he really didn’t want to cry about something and said it was okay, and so she and Shay had piled in, and Shay had fallen asleep pretty quickly, and eventually Harper had gone still and quiet and he is maybe asleep, but sometimes you can’t really tell, and Katy is lying there between them, thinking.
Harper is her brother-dad – yeah, that one seems to work best – and apparently Shay is his daughter too now.
Which kind of makes them sister-girlfriends, which is… Well, it doesn’t sound right, and she knows some people get a really strained look on their faces like they’re trying not to comment about ‘brother-dad’, and ‘sister-girlfriend’ is worse.
It’s great that Shay loves Harper like a dad, Katy doesn’t want to take that from her, Shay definitely deserves a dad if she wants one, and Harper is such a great dad, everyone should have a dad like Harper, but…
“Katy,” Harper whispers over Shay’s tiny, dainty, really, really cute little snores. “Why aren’t you asleep?”
“Shay said she was your daughter,” Katy whispers back.
“Yeah,” and there’s a bit of a pause there, and Katy can feel him swallow. “I hope that’s – you don’t mind, do you? You know I don’t love you any less, right?”
“Duh,” she says, poking him in the rib for asking something that stupid.
“Ow, Katy, what the fuck?”
Which was another thing he says a lot when they sleep together. “Sorry.”
“It’s okay. I love you.”
“It’s just – Harper, that kind of makes her my... sister-girlfriend.”
“Urgh,” he says. “Yeah, maybe don’t say – maybe don’t think about that too hard.”
“It’s in my head now!”
“Katy,” and Harper sounded serious now. “Turn over. Back against me. Look at Shay.” She does, and Harper keeps talking. “Look, people are always going to be talking shit, that’s just how it works. Sometimes your own head gets in on the act, which sucks, but you don’t have to listen to it any more than you have to listen to all those other people, okay? You and Shay find out what’s real between you, what works, and then you tell everyone else to fuck off. Even me, if you need to.” He sighs, then, the way Harper sighs when he tells her to do something he never does himself. “Gods, especially me, I don’t know what I’m talking about. Like, ever.”
Katy pokes him again. “Shut up, Harper. Don’t say things like that about my brother-dad, because I am a Very Powerful Sorceress and I will set you on fire if you’re mean to him, okay?”
“Okay,” Harper says, and kisses the top of her head. “Go back to sleep, Katy.”
“Okay,” she says, and snuggles back down, facing her girlfriend. Her brother-dad has her back.

omg you watched the winter classic.
I feel like “watched” is putting it very strongly -- Mum loves it, so she was watching it and ordered me to put it on so I’d understand her text message play by play. I was very impressed with that one goal block that sent the puck flying into the stands, though.

Looks like is is very straightforward to do if your laptop supports it - https://windowsreport.com/cast-windows-10-roku/ (might also give you phone mirroring capability, i didn't read that far)
The phone isn’t a problem, since it has casting on most apps, but I couldn’t get the windows 10 to mirror to the roku -- it would start to connect and then fail about a third of the way into the progress bar. Finally I found out the problem was buried deep in the Advanced settings, so I did in fact get it to work this morning!

Next thing you know she'll be going on a Timmy's run real quick, you want something?
YES DEEBS, I WANT A BUTTER TART.
She did used to teleport as a kitten. She’d vanish for hours and I could only assume she was adventuring the globe.

So do I say this on Rosh HaShana too?
I mean, I don’t see why not! Isn’t it Adam and Eve’s birthday too, though? They might feel left out.

I think Deebs might need glasses, Sam.
True story, I used to do the same thing when I was a little kid because I was fascinated by how a picture from far off just became a series of colored bars if you got close enough. I think I still have a drawing I did trying to recreate the effect as a three-year-old.

Thank you! I’m doing my best!

But you see, your heart is filled to bursting with love for the cryptids which colors your life, so how could there not be prominent feelings in the reading. <3
IT’S JUST SO MANY FEELINGS.

Congrats, that’s great! I mean what they don’t really talk about when you’re learning tarot is that all of it is made up. Some of it is very old and maybe some of it is divinely inspired, who can say, but a bunch of what we think of as tradition or lore is like...someone just wanted something so they invented it. So much of it is guided by intuition and subconscious knowledge that modifying it has always seemed very natural to me.
I love your aesthetic so much. When you do a posting it's all I can do to refrain from just duplicating the entire batch. Thanks so much for sharing what moves you.
