favorite thing about them: EVERYTHING I love Kim’s integrity. How she clawed her way out of doc review was amazing, she was so determined to get herself out of there. And I LOOOVE Giselle, what a queen!!! Oh and the Moscow Mules. Definitely.

least favorite thing about them: The way she told Jimmy she’d take the job at S&C instead of opening Wexler McGill 2.0. I totally understand why Kim did it, but there would have been about 5465215 nicer ways to tell Jimmy.

brOTP: Howard! She is looking up to him and I believe she sees him as kind of a father figure. For the longest time she worked towards becoming his (legal) partner, and his approval clearly means the world to her. As time progressed he knocked himself off the pedestal she had put him on, and although that must have been hard for her to watch, it eventually made her realize she could be a strong, successful lawyer without his tutelage. Now I want them to become friends and/or co-found a self-help group for people who have been affected by the McGill brothers.

OTP: Jimmy. They are perfect. Close second: Cigarettes.

nOTP: The dude who ran the town gas station.

random headcanon: Kim is from a total redneck town and grew up doing redneck things. On the weekends, she and her boyfriend (gas station guy) went shooting guns. Kim always aimed a little to the left to let him believe he was the better shot (the truth would have hurt his man pride). Please wait for me to publish the fanfiction I’ve been writing where I elaborate on this headcanon

unpopular opinion: Kim is so bad at relationships. So bad! (Jimmy is, too). Just talk to each other!!! COMMUNICATE!!! You would be so much happier if you TALKED ABOUT THE STUFF THAT’S ON YOUR MIND!!! It hurts to watch!!!!!!!!!!!

Kim wakes up early in the morning to make sure she’s got plenty of time to get ready for the upcoming day. She’s got time to do a quick exercise, take a shower, dress sharply, and make sure her ponytail is perfectly in order. She’s got her whole routine mapped out mentally — what she doesn’t prepare herself for is seeing her girlfriend all but slumped over her laptop at 6 in the morning, looking disheveled and exhausted.

“Lydia?” There’s both concern and confusion in her voice. “How long have you been awake?”

Come to think of it, Lydia hadn’t gone to bed with her the previous night. It isn’t unusual for Kim to wake up with Lydia already out of the bed, but Kim would expect her to be ready for work or at least preparing herself.

“How long…?” Lydia looks at her, visibly disoriented. Then, she glances at the time on her computer screen and puts her face into her palms. “Oh, Jesus. I’ve been here all night.”

Kim frowns. “Is everything okay?”

Lydia manages a weak nod. “I’m fine. I just… I got caught up in working on something.”

Raising her eyebrows, Kim steps closer to her. “Is that for Madrigal, or your other business partner?”

Kim is still coming to terms with Lydia’s… side business. On one hand, it concerns her and even reminds her of her less than legal history with Saul Goodman. On the other hand, Kim has changed as well and she can’t exactly judge too harshly. When it comes down to it, she just wants to make sure her girlfriend is safe.

“It’s for Gus,” Lydia says with full clarification. “It’s nothing serious, just… logistics. Very complicated logistics. Covertly getting one thing and another from point A to B. Stuff like that. It’s taken all night, but I’m finally done” She makes an emphatic gesture with her hands.

“So, you didn’t sleep at all?”

Lydia shakes her head.

“Hey,” Kim murmurs without any blame in her tone, “I told you to take care of yourself.” She places a tender hand on Lydia’s shoulder, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.

“I know, I know,” Lydia replies, leaning into Kim’s touch. She seems to really enjoy that kiss on her head, given the sleepy smile that grows on her face. “It’s just that– work comes first sometimes. I’ll be okay.” She tries to suppress a yawn and fails.

“How about you take today off? From Madrigal, that is. Call in sick.” Kim urges her with great conviction; she’s no stranger to the terrors of sleep deprivation. Every time she misses even a little sleep, she’s reminded of being on the side of a highway with a broken arm, her work documents scattered all around her.

That’s the last thing she wants to happen to Lydia.

“I really shouldn’t,” Lydia replies, shaking her head, though she seems hesitant to go to work even so. “Though, maybe it would be for the best. I don’t want my job performance to suffer after this all-nighter.”

“I’ll make it worth your while,” Kim tells her, sliding her hand down Lydia’s arm in a playful little gesture. She could easily mean it with more seductive intent, but she steers the offer in another direction. “I’ll make you some tea and we can cuddle, maybe have a nice nap…?”

“Oh, God,” Lydia groans. “You know me too well.” It would seem that she isn’t so difficult to convince when offered affection. “What about you, though? Don’t you have work today too?”

Kim shakes her head. “I’ve got the day off.”

Lydia frowns. “Oh,” she murmurs uneasily, “R– right. You do. That’s embarrassing for me to forget your schedule.”

“It’s okay.” Kim extends a hand to her, smiling softly. “Want to join me?”

Lydia gives in with a nod, taking Kim’s hand and joining her on the couch. “I still have to call out of work, if we’re doing this.”

“Okay.” Kim leads her to the couch, where she sits down beside Lydia. “I’ll put the water on while you do that.”

“Thank you,” Lydia tells her gratefully, retrieving her phone and dialing the number for Madrigal’s Houston branch. All the while, Kim fills the tea kettle and sets it onto the hot stove, preparing the tea for Lydia.

When all of that is out of the way and Lydia has had her tea, Kim snuggles up to her on the couch, wrapping her arms around the smaller woman. “Feeling better?”

Lydia chuckles slightly under her breath. “Yeah, a little. Much better now that you’re with me.”

When she moves in closer for a kiss, Kim doesn’t turn her away — in fact, she enjoys every moment of it. Lydia’s lips move against hers slowly, her lethargy evident when she sleepily wraps an arm around Kim. 

When the kiss breaks, Lydia murmurs, “I could get used to this.”

Kim grins. “Me, too.”

It’s not long before Lydia dozes off in Kim’s arms and the two of them sleep the rest of the morning away in easygoing bliss.
