Cautiously, she turned her head around, allowing her eyes to settle on the young man who happened to address her. Alexander? Of course it was.
"Oh. It’s you, isn’t it?" Her voice retained its usual icy tone, but the slightest of smiles tugged at the corners of her lips playfully. She raised her chin slightly, bringing a cigarette up to her mouth as she listened to what her friend happened to say. The two were nearly twins, as he said, and she thought it that way as well; he was one of the only people she could stand these days.
"Jean? You’ve got to be kidding. Laughable, isn’t it. He really is that desperate, is he now? Of course I won’t go." She chuckled dryly, shaking her head in disbelief. Her gaze dropped to her IPhone, to which a text from Jean was also waiting.
"So how have you been these days, Alexander. I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to ask."
