Completed group discussion for the Holford Drive project.
Presentation and Marketing: How Will I present myself?
As the project is soon coming to an end, I have realised that I need to not only work on my compositions, but also to present my work and myself as a composer in a professional way, in order for my project to shine.
Also I have hopes of owning my own business with piano tuition and online media. For these reasons I decided to spend the last week researching and refining my ideas to give my body of work a professional edge.
For many weeks I have been playing with the idea of marketing, and comign up with ideas of how I would like to portray myself,
See Below A moodboard I created at the start of the project to show the direction that I wished to go in.
When I looked back on this, I thought that this style was very personal and girly. I personally liked the style and thought it to be similar to a lot of influencers and youtubers who I look up to. However, I want to look polished and professional. I do not feel like this gives that impression. Also I think that by having such a girly and soft image that the type of client that I would attract would be restricted, and this does not fit in with my business idea.
I want to market myself as a Composer who is diverse, professional and capable of producing music for a range of genres, a range of audiences and media, and a range of client. I do want to look more towards the younger demographic and online influencers as I feel like this is a market that is growing and is becomign ever more popular, however I myself need to keep an image that should be clear and professional.
After I had defined myself, I set about creating a website. It took some time to find an appropriate website that would have multiple pages for me to use for contact details, portfolio etc. Also i needed to find a website designer that would be able to facilitate video clips and audio files. These factors added to my limited budget made it quite difficult and took a lot of research.
Eventually I settled on using ‘Wicks’ as a tool to begin my website. I created my own template, with the words minimalist and professional in mind. I chose a muted pink as my colour scheme, and i created a title page. ( See below)
I decided to make the website very simple to access. The website is a one page site, with the pros of this meaning it is easy to see everything laid out and it is quick for a potential client to scroll down and see everything that they need to see. They can access a contact form, a sample of works, and information about me and the service that I can provide.
See below how I organised this information:
I am very pleased with how the layout has turned out and pleased with the professionalism of this site. I worked hard and took time to this and am pleased that it worked out to my liking.
UPDATE:
I have decided to add business cards to my project and see potential designs that I have created below:
I have toyed with different fonts and layouts, I originally wanted the design to be very minimalistic and to reflect that image. However when I saw that I could create a design using a treble clef, I was drawn to that because I know that anyone who saw my business card, even from a distance, would instantly know and recognise that I was a composer and that my work involved music. Also the colour scheme is in keeping with my pink theme, and the design is both classic and modern.

Business Project Submission!!
After nearly four months hard work I successfully submitted my master’s thesis today. :) I would like to thank you for everyone supported me during the project including my supervisor, participants from organisations, friends and family. Finally, would like to wish you all a Happy New Year!!!!!
One week has gone by since this project ended, and I have to say, not a day goes by withou me listening to a song and thinking: “This would be great for sharing!” and then I remember it ended and I get sad inside. I’m not sorry for choosing to stop this project, but I miss opening my heart every day, or just give you the latest news in the music world.
It really meant a lot to me doing this, and I truly hope you enjoyed listening, as I enjoyed writing each day.
