Margot loved the rain, loved sitting at home and listening to it patter against the roof, background music to either the laughter and the occasional screams of temper tantrums that usually filled her home. She’d left that morning to stop by a garden center. Anemone, for healing and protection. Despite the grey skies, Margot had left without an umbrella or raincoat with her mind cluttered and full with hundreds of other worries or concerns. Now the sky had opened up, leaving Margot to jump from one awning in the city to the next.
She paused under a particularly large one to catch her breath, but when she looked up, she happened upon a familiar face. “Ender?” Margot nearly had to shout over rain hitting asphalt, concrete, and the tight fabric of the awning above them both. “Is that you? I hate to ask but...you don’t happen to have an umbrella, do you?”
