Slavery Still Exists

Did you know that there are over 30 million people that are living as slaves today? In a world where we could have easily said it ended, it hasn’t. It consists of women and children in which race doesn’t matter. That’s what modern day slavery looks like today. It is the fastest growing criminal industry in the world. It is known as human trafficking and it comes in many forms: Sex Trafficking, Forced Labor, and Organ Harvesting.

Many people think trafficking only exists in other countries, but the truth is it happens everywhere. Yes, that means even in the U.S. and even in DFW or small towns like Amarillo, TX. It’s a multi-billion dollar industry. It doesn’t care about race or gender. It doesn’t care about location. The only preference it has is money.

I know some of these statics can be hard to read, but we must open our eyes to make change. We can’t pretend like this doesn’t exist anymore. This could be your daughter, your sister, your son, your brother, your family member. It’s heart breaking to even grasp the fact that their are children even as young as 4 that are stuck in this horrible reality. You can be an advocate and the voice for the voiceless. You can help bring hope to the hopeless.

There are so many ways you can get involved with this fight. You can google anti human trafficking organizations in your area and volunteer your time. You can give financially to an organization or someone helping in the fight. You can talk about it with others to spread awareness. Lastly, you can check out what you are buying to ensure it was not made by child labor.
