“ No. No it definitely would not. ”

He might of sighed for the hundredth time that day, pinching the bridge of his nose to try and calm his temper down. He’s usually a lot more patient that this. They were currently stuck in the middle of nowhere, on a no-name asteroid after the Gummi Ship had crash landed right into it.

Riku had been checking the manual on his Gummiphone but that had proven to be of no help.

‘ No frowning. No sad face. ’ The Ship runs on Happy Faces... and Riku had the opposite of that right now. He should be thinking of stuff that makes him feel happy.

But with his worsening sour mood, getting the ship up and running again was going to be a little more difficult ― and his current companion wasn’t helping. Demyx was an odd addition to their team. And while he has proven to be quite useful on more covert tasks, Riku never would have expected to be partnered up with him for this mission.

In any case, he’s stuck with him now.

“ Just... gimmie a moment to think. ” he waves at the former XIII dismissively, “ Unless you got other bright ideas to get us out of here, I need you to zip it. ”

"Yeah.” Prompto mirrored the same nonchalance, though there was a tightness to his lips, as if the feeling wasn’t exactly genuine. “Things that are alive... generally... have an actual heart, yknow?”

He’d been trying to squash it down to the back of his mind, letting it be some quirk of the world, but it kept creeping up on him. It was hard to ignore, really, when every corner they turned seemed to bring with it the mention of hearts.

And he couldn’t keep himself from glancing to his strange partner in wonder. The other guy seemed alive enough to walk, talk, fight things, so unless he was some oddly corporeal figment of his imagination, Prompto was curious.

As gently as he could with fingertips that had accrued enough callouses to be atrocious, Prompto pushed the slightest bit of Demyx’s coat off his wrist, exposing the flesh there. It might have been almost poetic, if one was keen for that nonsense, when his own were so covered up; a dichotomy of sorts.

Cautiously, he pressed two fingers to where the pulse point in the wrist was supposed to be, and waited. ....And waited. He thought he felt something, though he bit his lower lip as he moved his hand from that point to the one upon Demyx’s neck.

Stronger, there, and he cracked a half-smile. “Man, don’t say such weird things when you’ve definitely got something there.”

It’s not necessarily difficult for Zexion’s brows to disappear into his hairline, but it still takes some effort–and he expends that much effort at the seemingly out-of-the-blue comment from Demyx.

The surprise is quickly overtaken by suspicion, and his eyes narrow accordingly. “If you are trying to get out of a mission, you are barking up the wrong tree. Take your concerns to Saix.”

His hands were clasped across his features, as though trying to keep out whatever manner of light was penetrating him. The figure seemed dazed, unsure of exactly where he was, which was the reality. The monster of a once King was unsure of where he was. There had been but an odd flash and a gasp and he now found himself dressed in a darkness that was not his own.

“Who goes?” He hisses in the thick of his throat, a singular black eye peeking out between fingers to look to the stranger that was approaching his form.

He said as he grinned at the other. He was clearly mocking him and yet it was in such a playful tone who knows whether he was joking or not? He wasn’t actually meaning any harm, but it was always fun to pull at those strings and watch others react like a puppet in a comedy puppet show.

❝What sort of mage would I be if I didn’t appreciate water magic~? That’s the only type of water I appreciate. All the rest is pointless- just like your ‘finer things’.❞
