shepard & penny

Penny was perfectly aware that the 'date' in 'study date' wasn't meant to be taken literally, but it was how she spent a lot of her time with Shepard. She just considered it indulging in their overlapping areas of interest, which often happened to include a lot of books and papers. Since Simon had reappeared as inexplicably as he'd disappeared, their research had mostly refocused on the barrier and how to get through it or bring it down altogether. Agatha was here too now, which meant that people were still coming in and out all the time, if only they could figure out how it happened.
She'd set their picnic blanket up as near to the barrier as they could stand, and she'd brought snacks and drinks from Caffi Rhees that she was currently ignoring in favor of munching through a packet of strawberry laces. "Tell me your theory about the multiverse again?" She was stretched out on her stomach, idly perusing a list of spells she'd already tried against the barrier and ones she had yet to try. The latter was much shorter, and it mostly only contained some recent ideas and the more dangerous spells she was afraid would have destructive consequences if they happened to rebound. Nothing had, so far. Any magick she threw at the barrier simply vanished on impact. Still, she didn't want to be responsible for leveling half the town if it turned out she was wrong.
