Have you ever thought about how much the fast fashion industry damages not only the environment but the people involved in the production of it? Fast fashion works by outsourcing big factories in countries with really low salaries to maintain the clothes low cost, but the conditions these people work in are unfair, bad salary, long working hours and exploitation. Let´s pledge to buy sustainable textiles and to buy second-hand items whenever possible!   Let´s pledge to reduce clothing purchases and to treat every purchase like a long-term investment! Let´s pledge to extend the lifespan of my clothes! Let´s pledge to donate or recycle unwanted textiles!

This for me is a very expressive work of art, I interpreted it as how clothes are suffocating us, how the mass production of the fashion industry is much larger than the necessity for clothing and people are overbuying, in the picture they´re a big mountain compared to the person below, buried by all those clothes, and if I were to dig deeper, I would say the clothes overpowered, suffocated and killed the person below, as a representation of the contamination and exploits of resources that kill fashion industry poorly treated workers and how it´s slowly killing all of us, buyers. From another perspective, I saw the clothes as the body of a clothes monster, representing that we ourselves became the monster due to all the clothes we buy, we ourselves are also responsible. I think it is very important to raise awareness because fast fashion makes product quality poor, their worker´s life miserable and dangerous, it puts social pressure on physical appearance, it contaminates and misuses valuable resources; it is another way of capitalism to thrive over current and future generation´s wellbeing. But the good news is that buyers have the power, if we stop ourselves from getting persuaded and star Smart-purchasing, we can stop fast fashion, that is why:

·  I pledge to reduce clothing purchases and to treat every purchase like a long-term investment! 

·  I pledge to extend the lifespan of my clothes!

·  I pledge to donate or recycle unwanted textiles!
