Walter Dean Myers from Monster
Within the first 88 pages of the book Monster, written by Walter Dean Myers, there is a strong hint of the shortcomings we face in out justice system. In the quote above, Myers gives the audience a cruel look at what it may feel like to be an an African American in a court room. In addition, there were many instances where he pointed out that our prison system is not a place for rehabilitation, but a place where criminals are held and can continue illicit acts.
