Everyone needs fixing now and then â„ïž Nothing to be ashamed of...
Levi Ackerman x GN! reader || you're cool, swaggy, and smart, and Levi is flustered but trying to stay calm.
flustered levi, date, slow burn, nonchalant reader, engineer! reader
the hum of machinery was a constant backdrop in the armory. sparks flew from welding rigs, the scent of oil and metal thick in the air. you didnât even flinch as a molten drop skittered across the floor. levi, on the other hand, had been doing laps for the past fifteen minutes, tryingâfailingâto act casual.
ây/n,â he said, voice clipped, eyes darting to where you were bent over the control panel. âuh⊠did you recalibrate theââ
you didnât look up. didnât even pause your movements. âyeah. already did. it was off by point zero seven two. figured youâd notice sooner or later.â your tone was flat, effortless, like solving tiny math problems was just a part of your day, not something to make anyone nervous about.
leviâs chest tightened. âright. okay.â he swallowed and rubbed the back of his neck. heâd planned to sound competent. to sound normal. instead, he sounded like a babbling idiot. âi⊠meanâgood job. obviously.â
you finally straightened, wiping your hands on a rag, and gave him a sideways glance. not judgmental. just amused. the kind of look that made him feel like every bad word heâd ever said was written across his forehead.
âthanks,â you said casually. ânot like it was hard. your equipmentâs⊠predictable.â
levi blinked. predictable. like your heart, maybe, except he had no idea what he was doing to yours.
he tried again. âyouâyou ever, uh⊠you ever think about taking a break? step away from all this tech stuff⊠and maybe, i dunno⊠come have lunch or something?â his voice was low, controlled, but he could feel it shaking.
you shrugged, leaning back against the console, arms crossed. âmaybe. if itâs not a fire drill or an explosion or something life-or-death. otherwise, i like knowing everything works perfectly.â
levi ground his teeth. cool. calm. completely untouchable. your brain, your hands, your energyâit was all so⊠so you. heâd trained his entire life to stay composed, to command, to be untouchable himself. and yet here you were, making him feel like a rookie.
âright.â he swallowed. âunderstood.â
you tilted your head, a small smirk tugging at the corner of your lips. âyou know,â you said, voice deceptively easy, âyouâre really bad at hiding that you like me.â
levi choked on his own breath. tried to blink it away. tried to act unimpressed. failed spectacularly.
âiâwhat?â he croaked.
you stepped closer, hands still in your pockets, calm as a still pond. âitâs fine. you donât have to say anything. just⊠stop trying to act normal around me. itâs cute. i like it.â
leviâs knees almost buckled. âiâiââ
âyeah,â you said, cutting him off with a lazy smile. âyou like me. admitted.â
and just like that, leviâs carefully maintained composure crumbled, leaving only the part of him that was completely, undeniably, hopelessly smitten.
you shrugged again, casual as ever, and muttered, âfinally said it for you.â
levi made a noise somewhere between a groan and a growl, but it wasnât angry. not even close. it was⊠everything.
and just for a moment, the world narrowed to the hum of machines, the smell of oil, and you, still cool, still untouchable, still utterly in control.
Sprinbonnie (animatronic) x engineer!gn!reader
A/N: could be read as platonic or romantic technically. Springbonnie will be referred to as springhare bc its supposed to be the readers rendition of springbonnie after going to Freddy's (with the toy animatronics, similar timeline to the movies) when they were a kid. They became like william afton just minus the murder.
Content warnings: none for this first fic really.
Pt: 1/?
Ever since you were a kid you loved engineering/ science so when he told you he was the prowler you kind of used him as your test subject for your new inventions.
Ingo: {Showing (Emmetâs reader) Engie and (his reader) The chief around the Gear station.]
Ingo: Here in the Gear station professionalism is important, we take our jobs very serious here and...blah-bla-bla...
{The time wardens arenât really listening as they see Emmet walk up behind Ingo, his coat and collar are pulled all the way up where only his hat is visible.]
Ingo:Â Emmet and I have a lot of young trainers who look up to us...and...and-
[stares at Emmet for a solid minute, before pointing towards the office*]
Ingo:Â *deadpan* Put them back..
Emmet: *dramatically tips hat, revealing Joltiks stuffed in his coat before walking away.*
[theres an awkward pause, before Ingo continues with what he was saying.]
Ingo: We have a lot of young trainers who look up to us....
For soft hours could you write something about falling asleep in the arms of Rex? I love this man so much.
âYouâve worked a triple shift, you ready to clock out yet?â
You sigh heavily as you ignore the warning tone in Rexâs voice, instead choosing to focus on the wires you were soldiering together. âI need to finish this row of speeders up.â You donât have to glance behind you to know Rexâs arms are crossed in frustration while he glowers down at you.
âYou need to rest,â he chastises, his voice lowering so no one but you can hear him, despite the fact that the hangar is empty. Itâs far too lateâ or early now, you suppose, in the night cycle for any other engineers to be working. Thereâs no official emergency.
But you feel the burning need to finish repairing on these speeders. So you continue to work.
Heâs nice enough to wait until you finish with the wires and close the hatch before wrapping his arms around your waist and lifting you to your feet, despite your cries in protest. âCyare, please.â You stop struggling at the weary sound of his voice. âIâm worried about you.â
You go limp in defeat, suddenly feeling the strain of every hour youâve been awake. âRex... I have to finish these. Theyâre the ones youâll be taking on your next mission.â
His confusion permeates the silence following your admission. âYeah, so?â
You turn around so you can look up at him, hoping heâll see how desperate you are, that heâll understand. âRex, you could be riding one of them. What if someone else fixes them, and they mess up and something happens to youââ You choke back a sob and Rex is pulling you back tightly against his chest, allowing you to cling to him as you hide your face against his shoulder.
âHow about a truce?â He murmurs after a moment. âYou nap here for a few hours, and I wake you up for the start of the next shift you can finish them up?â
His understanding of your fears nearly makes you start crying all over again.
âOkay,â you whimper quietly, and you follow him as he guides you back towards a darker corner of the hanger filled with scattered stakes of crates. He sits down first so his back is against the wall before coaxing you to sit between his spread legs, so you can lean back against his chest. His arms encircle you again, and you find yourself placing your hands over his so you can slot your fingers in between his much larger ones.
âYou good?â His breath ruffles your hair so it tickles your ear as you turn your forehead so itâs pressed against the crook of his neck. You hadnât realized how truly tired you are until now.
âMhmm,â you sigh happily, pressing against his hands slightly in the hopes that heâll hold you tighter and anchor you while you drift slowly into sleep. âLove ya.â
Rexâs chuckle reverberates deep in his chest. âI love you, too.â
[When Irida, Adaman and Laventon are asking Emmet and Y/n/Engie just what exactly are Time Wardens, and what do they do? ]
Emmet: We fight evil!
Engie: With mixed results!

==================================
Later when the Gear Station had closed for the night, the Twins were again sat in the employee lounge back at the board except the word Ghost train was scratched out and anything paranormal related was thrown aside and instead replace with aliens? dimensional travelers? and theories about the train, like why was it a train? was it carrying passengers? what was it's purpose?
"Alright, alright...Alright."
"You been saying that for five minutes now."
"Well how do you expect me to react to...Whatever the hell that was?!"
"Yeah, That was girl kind of cute..."
Emmet said with this dazed out expression Ingo looked at his brother annoyed. "Focus, this isn't time for checking out strange girls!" he huffed his younger brother sat up straighter with a coy smile on his face, while he watched his brother pace around the room whilst tiredly mumbling to himself, Emmet had a feeling he was gonna have to start spiking Ingo's Mocha decafe with Drowzee time chocolate* again...Â
Before someone suddenly started frantically knocking on the Employee lounge door, Emmet answered and random security guard was standing there breathing hard looking like he ran a marathon. "She's...the-the Ghost lady...here, the unfinished tunnel!" he wheezed before collapsing to his knees.
The twins looked at each other and scrambled out of the lounge the it wasn't hard to find them, the yelling and the familiar glowing Bullet train was hard to miss. "I will ask you one more time, did someone find a train pass laying around here?" A woman in brown coat hissed while holding one of the guards up by the front of his shirt.
"Chief please calm down, I'm sure they can help if we're nice!" They heard a familiar voice press, they recognized the maintenance girl from earlier trying to pry the woman away from the terrified guard. "I have no time to be nice, you know what's stake if we don't find my pass!" the other woman's shoulders slumped before noticing the Trevithick brothers approaching them gawking in disbelief, Maintenance girl tapped "Chief" on the shoulder and the two looked at them intensely.
That feeling of unease returned as Ingo and Emmet tried not to shy away from the two women's gazes, at first glance these girls seemed like normal humans, one wouldn't even tell them apart from the regular passengers that traffic through the station, but there was something else there, something the twins couldn't quite place, the Chief was the one who broke silence first. "These are the ones you told me about?" she huffed dropping the guard as she turned to face the subway bosses fully, she gave them a once over before spying her train pass clipped to Ingo's belt.
Ingo took notice and closed his jacket while giving her a stern look, the message was clear 'if you want this back, you best start talking.' The chief let out this frustrated growl before her and Maintenance girl straightening themselves up and saluted the Trevithick twins, the chief introduced themselves. "I am Y/n L/n chief conductor of the Interdimensional railroad, overseer of the AO time track and owner of the Time-Liner, This my Chief Engineer her name is-*Hisss* "The train hydraulics went off as Y/n was introducing her partner.
