" Midoriya, face me. " Upon compliance to his instruction, a steady hand slips around the shorter boy's tie and he begins to undo the knot it slowly. He begins to narrate his next set of actions. "Cross the front over the tail like this, then up and through, " he pauses, remembering which way front and tail of the tie are to go from his position. "Then behind, then up and over, through there and... like this. " He steps back, hand on his chin. " There it is. Why has no one fixed this before? "

Izuku stopped in his tracks upon heard the others voice, hesitating a mere moment before looking up at the other, “Iida-kun?” He blinked, the other’s name barely fallen from his lips before the tie around his neck was suddenly undone. Iida was…. fixing his tie?
He knew he never got it down quite right, was always aware that HIS tie didn’t look like everyone else’s and while it wasn’t a BIG deal, it still bothered him a bit, just reminded him on how behind everyone else he was. His uniform for junior high didn’t require a tie, and he had never worn one for holidays or anything like that, not to mention the only ones living in his house were HIM and his MOTHER — no one who had a special expertise in tying ties. So all he had was videos on the internet, which weren’t a lot of help.
Izuku nodded through the instructions, trying to commit them to memory as Iida spoke, demonstrating each step. ( ‘Cross the front over the tail like this, then up and through,’ Right. Got it… ‘Then behind, then up and over, through there and… like this.’ Behind, up, over, OOOOHHHHH) Suddenly all the dots and misconstrued ideas on how to tie a tie finally CLICKED, finally drew themselves in a line and made SENSE.
A scarred hand went to his neck, touching the, now PERFECT, tie under his collar, “O-oh,” A shrug, “I don’t know, but.” A wide smile pulled at Izuku’s lips, beaming up at the other with sun-like intensity, “Thank you, Iida-kun!”
