Well, how dare ask this question. Who would you cast in your own A Wrinkle in Time adaptation? Why? When you have Reese Witherspoon and Opera all in one movie, there is little room for deviation. This cast worked great together and I would not change a thing about it. I think the director used a strong and diverse group of women in the making of this movie.
If Monster by Walter Dean Myers, was a turned into a movie, it would need a strong soundtrack. Following the theme of the book, the unknown verdict would play a role in selecting songs. The beginning of the book starts with the story that Steve Harmon is on trial for murder. However, it is unknown what his life was like before on trial. If a movie, I would choose Project Pat’s I Ain’t Goin’ Back to Jail song as the opening song. This would immediately build suspense, as Steve would be introduced as a gang banger who would say anything to get out of going to jail. Thus setting the tone for the movie.
“I realized that the five guys doing the mopping must have all looked alike and I suddenly felt as if I couldn’t breath.” Monsters (129). From an audience perspective, this quote is very revealing. I think it drives home to the audience, especially people of color that there is an uneven share of people of color than whites in our prisons. As Steve realizes this, it is a hard pill to swallow and makes the term Monster, feel more like an identity.

In the movie A Wrinkle In Time, I didn’t see where Calvin fit in. Charles Wallace made mentions that Calvin was being brought along, as he was a good diplomat. However, he failed to deliver in the movie. The only value added was in realizing where evil exist, as it flashed backed to him not meeting his father expectations.
