England FA To Appeal Lauren James’ Red Card Against Nigeria Written by Kelechi Ofor
England Goalkeeper Home Shirt 1988-1999 Umbro Home shirt as worn by Peter Shilton during Euro 1988 in West Germany, where England lost all their matches and finished bottom of Group 2. The green colour clashed with the Republic of Ireland’s kit in the first match, so the zig-zags made their debut in the second match of the tournament, as Peter Shilton conceded three goals on his 100th appearance for England; Marco Van Basten netting a hat-trick. it was Shilton’s end of international career. He was forty years old when this kit was replaced. David Seaman won the first of his 75 caps in this kit. Four-tone green striped shirts appearing as diamonds, making the overall effect look zig-zagged, with black shoulder and forearm pads. Black collar, edged with a thick light-green stripe and a thin dark green stripe within. Embroidered emblem on left breast. Two embroidered white concentric diamonds on right breast, with 'umbro' in white lower-case lettering underneath. White number one on reverse in same font as worn at the 1986 World Cup. Black shorts with two embroidered white concentric diamonds on right thigh, with 'umbro' in white lower-case lettering underneath. There does not seem to have been any sort of consistency for the positioning of the zig-zags. They all vary in these respects and it suggests that they were made without any set template to line the zig-zags up with any other parts of the shirt. I can’t get enough of this magazine series, such an insightful and educational read. Almost too much information to process in one issue!
A little reminder/process board I knocked up in order to keep one eye on some of the keys points I’ve taken from the England FA Youth Awards Modules when designing practices for grassroots foundation phase 5-11yrs.
