21-22 July 2017
I’ve agreed to meet both Josh and Ben (from work) at mine for some FIFA. I’ve taken a train back to Englefield Green - where I haven’t lived for about six years - and suddenly realise my mistake when Josh texts me to say he’s arrived to pick me up from work. I tell him what I’ve done, and get into my old Citroen (again something I’ve not had for a good few years), which is parked outside Ruby Wines. The road is suddenly quite busy as I try to pull out; I decide to stop and wait for others to pass, but a car scrapes the back of mine, so I immediately pull over again and get out. The woman stops her car in the street (a massive Dodge Challenger RT with two stripes down the middle) and we both assess the damage. My car has an ugly gash on its backside, whilst hers is untouched. I comment my car couldn’t harm hers, being so inferior in size. She invites me to get into hers so we can go - to somewhere to deal with this, though not specified - and I text both Ben and Josh, saying I will be delayed, ask my housemate Will to let you in and you can at least play some FIFA without me.

I just found out Marilyn Monroe lived for a little while in the little village right next to my Uni! I go there to buy groceries all the time. I wonder which streets she used to go to. And if she adored the beautiful cemetery as much as I do.
