tomorrow is my graduation and i am giving a speech as the valedictorian still can't believe it's over
life updates after graduating:
eating a lot of good food, cooking a lot of good food while bingeing modern family (i am on s9 it's insane)
spending a lot of time with my hometown friends on long drives for dessert and catching up in malls, oh how i love such fulfilling friendships
redid my entire desk wall in my room and it was such a fun lil project to do a lil collage of some of my art, other artworks i love, fave tumblr textposts and my fave albums (look at that butterfly mirror it was such a steal)
got an insane outfit from a local store in the hills where i went to as a family trip
currently reading - the carrying by ada limón
watched this insane indie queer film called the watermelon woman
AND OTHER IMPORTANT NEWS: so my undergrad thesis that i am trying to submit as a research paper to a journal has been reviewed and they gave a lot of good feedback but it's been a task to get myself to rework it because i didn't expect there would be so much to edit and i am back home where there's no academic environment to inspire me BUT I HAVE TIME so I AM GONNA DO IT even though i am like alex level anxious about it because i really want my research to be published
fave songs rn- lunch by billie eilish, good luck babe by chappell roan and black dog by taylor swift
Updated Introduction
hey there welcome to my studyblr! can't believe i started this blog during covid to get through my undergrad but i just graduated college and a lot has changed and that's why an updated introduction
♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
i am eni
i completed my ba in literature and arts (joint major) with a history minor from india in summer 2024 and wrote my undergrad thesis on goncharov phenomenon and tumblr fandom culture
i will start grad school in fall 2024 to pursue ma cultural studies in europe
♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
academic interests: fan culture, meme studies, digital cultures, new media, ecoanxiety, cultural memory and heritage, decolonialism, queer media studies, early modern south asian history
non academic interests: reading, writing poetry, watching movies and media, visual art (both traditional and digital), cooking, shitposting on tumblr, recently picked up crocheting as well
revamping my notion and feeling like I AM GOD
I am finally in my final year of my undergraduate honours literature and arts joint major degree with a history minor. It's been quite a wild ride and today is the last day of my summer break and sadly, i was away the whole last trimester from the studyblr.
so this trimester with my capstone thesis underway I have decided to build a consistent routine, which is super super difficult for someone like me who shitposts about having a nonexistent sleep schedule on her main.
but I am here with my revamped notion that screams me and I just hope I live a healthy lifestyle the upcoming three months with a healthy emotional and mental headspace.
THERE'S STUDIO GHIBLI AND BTS REFERENCES IN IT!! the dashboard actually has those eating gifs, I made it like a cafe inspired from a YouTube vlogger called christine and look at my pretty uni page setup too, ugh pastels my love
i worked super hard on these pages, thematically. AND I AM SO PROUD. I am taking really cool courses in my next trimester:
1. literary canon (do you the ao3 tag as a header I love my brain aah)
2. long form journalism (really excited for this one because I wanna write freelance stuff on some stuff as a personal side project)
3. concepts in aesthetics ii (art history babyyy, and with less modules on dead white people this time hopefully)
4. maritime history (please tell me the stories of the ocean cause I am in love with the siren of history, ugh ew)
5. modern indian history (by fave prof, good class numbers like less people yayy more attention)
okkiee bii for now
well it's been a minute and i have been away for far too long so here are some major life updates:
i finished my bachelor's capstone thesis on the goncharov phenomenon and tumblr fan culture. my advisors gave me an A+ on it!
my convocation is at the end of this month but we received our final transcripts so *drum rolls*:
i graduated my ba in literature and arts with a minor in history and got a whooping 9.61 cgpa
(my mum is more giddy about my cgpa than me cause i honestly considered my undergrad academic journey fulfilling after my thesis defence, which my fave fave prof said received a "resounding applause")
i am starting grad school in europe this september, going to pursue a ma in cultural studies (super anxious and excited about that)
i am working on editing my research thesis to be published in a fan studies journal so let's hope i can share that with y'all soon
i have revamped my studyblr so i can be more active here during grad school
so drop by if you are a mutual or a follower in this space 🍷
tell me how you maintain your studyblr cause i seriously need advice about that 📚
and please if you are in grad school or going to start grad school in any field related to arts and humanities, share any tips, fears, anxieties, hopes and dreams 🩷
Fleabag and Différance: A Spectacle of ‘Excess’
I made this ppt for my final paper presentation for an art philosophy and aesthetics course on contemporary art. I used the case study of a contemporary media show fleabag to uncover the aesthetic experience of her "excesses"
here's my main argument if anyone wants to know:
I analyze Fleabag’s scenes and shot compositions to examine the aesthetic experience of Fleabag’s ‘excesses' to argue how Fleabag’s character negotiates the tension between traditional and neoliberal feminist gender norms through her ‘excess’— her humor, emotionality and the act of breaking the fourth wall. The spectacle of her 'excess' reveals the working of différance as articulated by feminist art history theorist Griselda Pollock. Ultimately, the performance in her 'excess" serves as a counternarrative challenging the binary gender performativity of “being a woman” from both patriarchal and neoliberal feminist perspectives
writing response papers for the literary canon course for finals
it is on macbeths cinematic adaptations, akira kurosawa's throne of blood and vishal bhardwaj's maqbool and on modern retellings of antigone using kamila shamsie's home fire and judith butler's antigone's claim. I actually loved both my arguments, they were so so fun to write even if it killed me. please ahhhhhhh I want someone to read them cause ik my prof won't he's a bit eh
~ week 39 2023
life lately is about sunflowers, reading fans studies journals for my bachelor's thesis, attending local book fairs for my leg day, making ketchup smileys, reading emma by jane austen, late night milk and cookies run, frolicking and rotting away simultaneously
