Tsunade + Konan
I absolutely love the idea of Tsunade meeting Jiraiya’s lil ame gremlins. She was against the idea of him staying with them for so many reasons, and one of them is because she didn’t want to be left behind. She’d already lost both Dan and Nawaki, and during the time Jiraiya was away taking care of the trio, Orochimaru turned out to be... Well, Orochimaru, and to be alone in the midst of all of that really took something from her. I’m not saying she resents a handful of snotty lil kids, but that’s absolutely what it is. Perhaps getting to know Konan after Jiraiya’s death would make a really interesting thread/plot line! She’s angry and super ready to throw fists, but what if that doesn’t happen? Juicy. On that note: what if she stays instead of Jiraiya? Tsunade’s first pupil and all the extra stuff Konan would learn from growing up under Tsunade’s wings???
Itachi + Konan
There’s not a lot of room for pretty much anything when it comes to the two of them simply because they’re both too closed off and distraught of their surroundings, but if we take that away? I think Itachi could really find a friend in Konan, safety and warmth even though he’s underserving. Plus it’d do WONDERS for Itachi to know that: ‘yes, wars are the worst and you did what you had to to prevent that' from hearing about Konan’s childhood and experiences growing up in a country wasted by war. Not that it’d change anything, but it would help to, you know, know that he wasn’t crazy for trying anything to avoid it. And perhaps, idk, Konan would take some comfort in something Itachi has to offer? I really don’t know what it is, Akatsuki!Itachi is devastated but it’ll be fun to look for it! There’s always alternative universes and anything that ends with Konan braiding Itachi’s hair has my heart.
Kimimaro + Konan
Am I crazy? Or ‘post-konoha’s-destruction Konan finds this weird teen in the woods and decides to let him stick around’ trope is not so bad? I live and die for any timeline where Kimimaro gets to experience different versions of what he had with Orochimaru - which is pretty much what he’ll do for the rest of his life: look for a purpose to walk this very earth, SOMEONE to give him meaning. It’s not healthy or ideal in any way to attach himself to another person like that, but it is what it is. And perhaps Konan would make a good mentor, and maybe show him he can be his own person? It’d lead to absolute failure bc he needs someone to play the role of a beacon of light in his life, but she could try? Again, am I crazy?????
