On time

Here I am again! First one of the requests I had accepted:

‘I am going to take care of you, okay?’ with Will Solace. It is kind of short, but I liked it this way!

For some reason you always happen to be right on time, with everything you do. This also means that you are always there when people need you, when you wouldn’t even know. Just call it luck, or something like that. This really comes in handy when you help around in the infirmary, because you are there when needed. But perhaps it also helped that you just spend more time there because you liked someone there. When you arrived on the first day, he showed you around, and you have been friends ever since. Just friends.

Sometimes when you get hurt during sword practice, or something familiar he flips. ‘I told you to be careful!’ ‘I know’ ‘Just… I’m going to take care of you okay?’ ‘Of course you are. Who else would?’ You loved him for that. How could you not? Will is one of the reason why you loved camp so much.

But the big difference between Will and you was that Will had a tendency to be a bit late. Often you would already be busy with the work, and then Will would get there running. Not only with sudden life-threating situations, but also when you had an appointment with him. ‘Hey, (Y/n), sorry I am late. I was just talking to Nico and-’ ‘and you lost track of time. Again.’ ‘I am truly sorry. Shall we go now? We might still catch the movie.’ ‘Sure. Just make sure you are on time next time’ This might be annoying to some, but it is worth the alone time with Will.

You weren’t officially dating, but that didn’t matter. You weren’t ‘friends with benefits’ either. You were just two people who liked each other, but didn’t want to admit it. There was something more, but you both didn’t dare, and it was nice. You sometimes wished Will would ask you, but you didn’t want to push him. You just wanted to be on time.

Then the day came, the day Will got a quest. He had to go, but he promised he would be back. You did want to confess at the time, give Will a kiss before he would leave on the quest. ‘I will be fine, I promise.’ ‘You sure?’ ‘Of course.’ ‘Uhm, Will I..’ ‘You…?’ ‘I… I am going to miss you. You better come back!’ ‘I will, because who else would take care of you?’ You just smiled at him, gave him a hug and he was on his way.

The news came fast. ‘I am so sorry, Will got separated from the group and...’ even the one bringing the news didn’t want to say it. You ran, into the infirmary, like there would be something to mend your heart there. You have always had the luck to be on time, but the one time that you wanted it you weren’t. For once, you were too late, just like how Will always was.
