It’s actually surprising how many thoughts and headcanons I have about Garcias and their ears lmao (pretty big ramble under the cut)
Now let me tell you I have a LOT of thoughts:
Every. Single. One. was pierced with either a (questionably sanitized) sewing needle or a homemade piercing gun and with (even more) questionable materials but somehow they all healed perfectly???? nothing infected, nothing rejected, no scars, no bumps, nothing??? No antiseptics, no saline, nada???? i mean good for them🙄 i guess🙄
Selen is usually the one piercing everyone (including herself), unless the placement is tricky and she can’t see her own ear (then chances are it’s Ian who gets the honors with the needle). She’s also the most invested in the earstack curation and will go out of her way to steal piercings for her brothers if she thinks they will like them/will go with their vibes.
Anyways, a quick reference sheet:
Now personally I don’t see Argo with that many piercings tbh… Partly because it’s not his style but also because he strikes me more as a tattoo type. I could see him with industrial, maybeeee first lobes at most. But i think he would vibe with ear cuffs and jackets; they’re bulky and robust but more importantly they’re easily removable, which comes in handy later in life (he has retired most if not all piercings by the time Shogun rolls around). They’re all very solid and simple in design OR sea/ship inspired ((due to Ray Gil being based on Carina constellation aka keel of a ship)). I could also see him sporting facial and/or dermal piercings tho, specifically shark bites ((yes, another sea reference, I will NOT stop)) but honestly any other lip piercing also works.
Ian’s lobes placements here are directly taken from canon and i thought it would be fun if he had orbitals as his staple pieces (given that the whole cyclon stadium shtick looks like one (yeah okay, maybe that’s a bit of an abstract stretch but let me live))… and then i also gave him a vertical industrial, partially to match with Argo’s industrial but also because theyre super rare and unique. Idk I feel like he would gravitate towards uncommon and original pieces and VERY interconnected placements, especially if they enhance the ear shape. I can definitely see him having a rook or a bunch of snugs too, but mostly as complimentary pieces. Don’t see him being much for dermals tbh, but him having a labret speaks to me, so labret is what he’s getting. In my mind the whole “the only person who can predict the cyclon attack” manifested itself into the need to be Special and Extra and now Basic Stack™ is his worst enemy.
…Selen though is very much the opposite. Loves a Basic™ look and is 100% a regular piercing baddie. She has a whole matching stack and I WILL die on this hill (and what’s crazy about it is that she stole them individually from different places; my girl has an eye for cohesive stacks fr). Stacked lobes and daith are nonnegotiable, i REFUSE to back down on this, but I can also see her styling chains and connecting different piercings together. Its all very thought out and curated, even if the placements are taken from every pinterenst inspo pic ever... Maybeeee some dermals? I can definitely see her getting some lower back dermals. Oh and a belly button. She absolutely SCREAMS belly button energy to me.
Now Enso. God Enso. Bless my boy, but he can’t curate for shit. Selen refused to pierce anything beyond lobes and one (1) flat ((the only piercing that got infected between all four of them-> the scar is hidden behind the massive vertical helix on his right ear now)) until he turned 15 but once he got there it was pretty much game over. Very dangly pieces, multiple charms and just… a lot of noise whenever he shakes his head i guess? His ear is as obnoxious as his personality. But I also believe he would switch them up to tamer hoops and crystals once he grows up ((Argo said he can’t keep on wearing that in corporate, Selen said he can’t keep on wearing THAT anywhere (Ian refused to get involved but he did privately think it was starting to look ridiculous))), still keeps some of the dangly pieces, but now they’re functioning as the center pieces and the rest of the piercings are complimentary (yk small hoops, studs, small crystals etc) so theres not as much clashing going on. As far as facial piercings go I can definitely see him having a smiley or frenulum, but otherwise he keeps it mostly ear centered.
