She did laugh at his joke, though she didn’t quite know what it meant. After all, she had no idea what an angel was. She assumed that it would have made more sense if she did. > > > > “Come on, I’m taking you to a little inn not far from here, so we can get that bandaged up and iced. No buts, mister, I’m not up for negotiating things.” She grinned. “You’re not afraid of heights, are you? Just wondering.” > > Welker just huffed quietly and settled himself in for the ride. Not much else to be done when a girl two or three years younger than you is nearly a foot taller and insists on carrying you. Alu, eh? So be it? So be it. > > “Alright, alright, long as you’re paying, I guess…” He rolled his eyes, then closed them and relaxed before continuing. “Don’t suppose I am, but I’m more worried about coming crashing down. You go ahead and fly if y'think you can.” Angel’s smile broadened at Welker’s response. She’d been aching to stretch her wings for hours (an incredibly long time in her mind), and now she had an excuse. Careful not to jostle Welker too much, she rolled her shoulders, shaking her wings out from their away spot. They glistened and glimmered a brilliant blue before paling back to their usual white. “Hang tight, we’ll be there in no time.” the Alv said with another grin, and she leapt up, her wings beating quickly to compensate the extra weight, though it didn’t seem to labor her any. She soared up way above the trees, riding the air currents hundreds of feet above the ground. Her hair whipped around her face, and her eyes sparkled with glee. Sadly, the ride was all too short, as they arrived at their destination in only a few minutes. Without so much as flinching, Angel swooped down and through an open window on the third story of an inn, barely managing to slow herself down enough so that she didn’t crash into anything, and they came to a safe stop. “So, that was fun.”
