re: how to train your dragon 2--I was also disappointed. I had really thought that in the beginning they were setting it up such that astrid would become chief since she, yknow, actually wanted it/would be good at it and it would be all "do what you want to do, not what your parents want you to" and instead it was all "meant to be"/"chosen" bull...but at leas there is/always will be Toothless being adorable.
I agree! Astrid or Valka would have made so much more sense to be chief. And what exactly did Hiccup do that Valka already couldn’t do just as good or better? All hiccup did was basically being stupid and praised for it. Uuugh.
also: Valka discovered the whole truth about the dragons 20 years prior and tried to tell the rest of the village about it with no success. She finally gets definite proof of it, but doesn't return because she knows that she still won't be believed. Hiccup does the same basically, with the whole proof thing. But that just makes him sure they will definitely believe him now. Ok?? Great.

I like your thoughts on abortion (I'm still a bit on the fence about that issue--so let's not talk that) but your views on gender roles disturb me greatly. I'm working to become an engineer and have to regularly combat "traditional" gender roles more than I'd like to in the 21st century U.S. And stop the "different but equal" pandering--as a woman, I am not by default worse at physics/math, love children, great at writing, love clothing, defined by my sexual promiscuity, etc. Part 1/2
I really don't have a problem with you or any woman being an engineer. I don't think our views are that far off!
