CRE’TOS LOG #1 - THE BEGINNING
We have arrived on the quaint little planet that we’ve come to call Labareda. It’s an inhospitable molten rock of a planet, but it is full of a spectacular quantity of resources that we attribute to the high levels of pressure and carbon that contribute to the crystallization of several minerals. Probes that were sent in beforehand returned with several pounds of gold, silver, emeralds, rubies, diamonds....Useless really, unless you’re trading them with other planets that value them, or are using them to build some trinkets. No, we’re not looking for those lesser materials, nor the species that dwells in this planet. We’re looking for what the probes uncovered in later missions. A very particular kind of rare crystal, that I’m sure very few of you will understand the importance of. It’s a classified project and I must keep some things secret by Crylow’s command.
It is not just secrecy that keeps my lips tight. I have very little interest to speak of resources. What I want to speak of, is what I was commissioned to do in Labareda. Myself and a large team of scientists have been brought into the excavation and extraction projects because, while our kind is advanced of thousands of millions of years compared to the natives of this planet in terms of intelligence and technology, we lack the necessary adaptations to survive in this sulfuric and extremely hot atmosphere. As a result, our excavation teams are...Well..Perishing in terrible agonizing ways. Having your insides slowly cooked by the temperature, is not at all ideal when you are attempting to complete your tasks. Efficiency is important for this mission. As such, myself and the other scientists have been tasked with figuring out how to keep our kind alive in Labareda long enough that we can exploit its resources.
The project is not an easy one, and the company is not pleasant. Dr. Krii’ren is an obnoxious pain in the arse, and I would very much rather stick my genitalia in my office lazer shredder, than listen to him go about genetic enhancements. My fellow scientists Uom, Jix and Ten, seem to share my sentiment of disdain for the geneticist. I think I shall tolerate their company. Perhaps they may be of aid in figuring out how to best proceed with the mission. I shall have to test them to see if they are capable.
Audio Log Entry Number One
Date: The X of X, year XXXX. Time: 23 hundred hours, 0 minutes, 31 seconds.
“Operation on Project WDG will begin approximately 8 AM in the morning. I will be keeping a record of our progress, but this will serve as a personal log for myself only. Data collected during research will be kept entirely separate with formal analysis and direct results, while this will be used to convey my own thoughts and observations.”
“That said, it should all remain professional. This is just my own preferred style in order to use as a cross-reference and gather other information that may be excluded- either accidental or otherwise- from the overall research. It's quite handy, really.”
“Ahem, anyway...”
“Four others are on the project, excluding myself. There are five of us in total. I am, however, not confident in the others willingness to undergo this research. This is, after all, nothing like any of us have done before. At least, not to this extent.”
“The new ruler of the Underground, King Papyrus, had hand selected us and given us free reign of this project. His only request- and he was quite insistent on it- was that we do nothing that would strengthen the subject or provide him with weapons of any sort. I have a strong suspicion as to why this is, but I will get to that another time perhaps. His only other request was that, whatever we chose to do, it should be painful.”
“Very painful.”
“King Papyrus has no real desire to further the progress of the medical nor scientific field. This is all purely for the torture. To give the subject a taste of his own medicine, so to speak.”
“Hahaha... I believe I just did a pun there. Not my intention, but Gaster always did enjoy the occasional pun. I'm afraid he won't have reason to laugh anymore, however.”
“That's right... I didn't mention that, did I? Wing Ding Gaster is the subject of Project WDG, promptly name in 'honor' of his initials.”
“But I digress. Given the history behind the man, it does not surprise me King Papyrus wishes this of Gaster, nor do we pity the man even if this world would allow that sort of behavior. Nonetheless, I can't help but be both awed and unnerved by this punishment.”
“This is why I lack confidence in my fellow coworkers. We've all worked in the lab, but they were kept in upper levels, ignorant of the goings-on in the depths below. Gaster had to be quite selective on who he let in on his plans, after all.”
“I, on the other hand, am a different story. I was never involved with the experiments directly, but I often did the occasional odd-job, and it usually involved clean-up.”
“After all, someone had to clean away the dust from medical beds.”
“I was valued for my silence, and I mean that in more ways than one. I never spoke unless spoken to, a secret never passed my lips, and I did my work without question and effectively, almost always doing more than what was asked of me. I did none of this for recognition or praise, I did it only because it was expected of me.”
“This also involved interacting with the subjects of Gasters experiments sometimes. Sometimes. I was never allowed to speak to them, or they to me, and would only hand food or medical supplies. But I'm a clever little rat, heh. I know how to gain the information I desire without anyone ever having to know.”
“So while I was never fully exposed to the experiments, I was fully aware of them. It didn't mean I did anything to stop them, however. I needed to make a living myself, after all. Besides, I was in no position to have anyone believe me nor would I benefit from it in any way, only risk my own neck if I failed. Regardless, that doesn't mean I enjoyed this fact or what was happening.”
“Anyway, the reason why I say this is to reveal that King Papyrus himself was once- and, technically speaking, still was- a test subject himself in this very lab. He was not, however, experimented by Gaster, but by his very own brother.”
“The former Royal Scientist had an assistant by the name of Sans, who, unfortunately, was killed during the take over by King Papyrus himself. Sans had taken his little brother as a child upon Gaster's request to the lab to be experimented upon. For years the king had undergone these treatments, and, well... Let me just say it's no wonder he is the way he is now. When it was finally finished, he was still requested for check-ups and small upgrades, and would come to the lab for them. What finally pushed him to strike back, I'm not sure.”
“It's no wonder he ended up killing his own kin. I'm only surprised the same hadn't been done to the man behind it all. But I guess the hatred just ran too deep in that retrospect.”
“I remember one particular day... Haha, not like I could ever forget it.”
“I was outside, enjoying a good smoke, when I heard the doors to the lab open. I was further off, leaning against one of the many boulders of Hotlands. I glanced over but didn't bother to show myself. I was surprised to see that it was Papyrus and Sans coming out.”
“Papyrus had only been a child then. I'll be honest, it was hard seeing him like that... So broken and bruised. Small. Like the entire world had it's whole weight on this kids' shoulders. Sans wasn't much better, if I'm being entirely honest here. He didn't go through the same thing his brother did, but... Haha... Goddamn....”
“We may never have met face-to-face, but there's no way I could look directly into those eyes of his if we ever had.”
“I didn't know why they were out there, but I was sure this was the first time Papyrus had been outside the lab since arriving. Sans hung back while his brother just sat on the ground. Just... Sitting there. I had to guess it was to enjoy just being out for once. I'm surprised they allowed it at all.”
“I couldn't help but smile. I don't know why I did. Still, I threw my cigarette on the ground and stomped it out. I wanted to go over. At the very least, say hi to Papyrus. I couldn't get in trouble for that, could I?”
“But... something happened.”
“Papyrus had stood. Stretched. Then took off running. Just... Ran. And he was running so hard. I was stunned in place, thrown off by just how desperate he went.”
“He didn't head away from the lab, however. Didn't run toward the Core or Waterfall.”
“He ran straight for a lava pit.”
“And jumped.”
“I just about nearly had a heart attack then and there. I was sure I was going to see this child burn, hear his screams echo along the cavernous walls. But just before he dropped, he was caught. Mid-air. At first, I had thought maybe time had frozen, and would of continued so had Papyrus not started struggling so violently.”
“His brother had caught him with this soul magic that seemed to be specific to skeletons. Papyrus started shouting, but I was too far to hear. However, I didn't need to. While I was unable to make out the context of the words themselves, his tone of voice told me everything I needed to know.”
“He was begging his brother to let him fall.”
“For awhile, he had his brother hang there. I was watching Sans' face, and he seemed... Conflicted. As if he really was debating on doing it...”
“If he was, he decided not to. He threw his brother back to 'safety', and against the wall of the lab. He started yelling at him then. Once more I couldn't make out the words, but he sounded so angry.”
“Eventually, they went back inside. I decided to stay out there for another hour for good measure. Besides... hahaha... I needed the extra time. I got scolded for it, but because I was such a 'good egg', that's as far as it went.”
“Yes... I can't say that I blame the king for wanting this punishment for Gaster.”
“It's only fair.”
“.....End log.”

Heart's Log 2: Electric Boogaloo
In lieu of an actual thing here’s the results of my experiment so far:
AI Experiment #█████: Upsilon Theta-063
Goal: Create an AI already in theta stage so as to develop directly into meta stage. Variable(s): Source Code Implemented Code(s): [REDACTED] (2 normal, 5 anomalous) Source Code: Newest popular indie game, █████████ (Chosen for its noted capacity for personality w/o anomalous code)
Log of Events: (In time since coding finished) 00:00 - Anomalous codes implemented. Actual time it took to finish coding 04:48. 00:04 - Upsilon Theta-063 (hereafter UT-063) is put into AI projection/containment unit for further observation and testing. 129:52 - UT-063 containment unit briefly flares its on-board projection system, projecting the sprites of notable in-game characters for 3 minuets then stops unresponsive for the rest of the current observation period. Main observation period ended
Conclusion: Experiment inconclusive. Either needs longer observation period, more testing, or it’s a dead dud. Result: Incl. Subject put into long term observation until further notice.
Attempt #1 At consistent log thing.
It's been roughly 4 months since I was transferred to this site. I have not come out of my office since then. Epsilon suggested I make a like diary sort of thing so they don't have to memorize everything for me. I'd try and reduce the amount of sarcasm they're capable of, if I thought I could do that. And if I weren't scared that it would fuck something up in their programming. But I suppose this ain't too bad a time. After all, I'm about to start a new experiment with a new data sample. If it works I won't need to program so much to make new full AI. Just insert the anomalous code and wait for it to take.

The storm hasn't cleared up in the least, but I was able to find a new city and a great restaurant. The folk around here have a very pleasant library as well, I wonder what this city will reveal. Wish me luck my little Gems.
