Yep, exactly what it sounds like.
An area of space that you can measure out 1600 metres (a 400m track can be covered four times, a 100m football field can be covered 16 times etc.) Alternatively a GPS watch will count your distance for you if you have one.
A stop watch or timer (so that you can record your time and do it again later in the week 😉 )
Knee protection may be useful but not essential.
Basically, walking-lunge your way across a 1600m distance. It might sound like madness but lunges are an extremely good exercise to strengthen every muscle in your lower body. Over this distance, it is an exercise in stability, patience and endurance. It will likely be unpleasant but it will genuinely help to build stamina and power in your legs.
And consider this: having completed this exercise, next time a colleague or friend says to you “omg I feel like I have done a mile of lunges” you can say, “well I have, and you have no idea!”
The World Record is 25 minutes. Best of luck, you’ve got this.
