@envidus bc i love you
' finally, ' miles thinks, twitching his hood up to shield more of his face as he slides through the pedestrian traffic and to the shadowed alleyway. ' some luck. ' the wall between him and the courtyard his mark had disappeared into is a tall one. he can't risk the sparking crackle of alchemy either.
brown eyes track a path and then he's moving. strong legs push off as he vaults up and over the wall, dropping and rolling gracefully to his feet. no sweat.
the building itself is dark, curtains drawn across the windows, and miles frowns. he might have to use his alchemy anyway. vexing. he moves smoothly to crouch beneath one of the windows. pressing his palms together and then to the ground, he closes his eyes and lets an array bloom across his mind. vibrations echo around him, the house settling, a small rodent skittering under the floorboards, a human shape moving in one of the front rooms. bingo.
miles eases the door open and slips in. the house is dusty and he has to choke back a cough. he moves quickly toward the front room he'd sensed the movement in, coming to a stop directly in the opening.
a figure around his height stands facing away from him, entirely different from the one he'd seen enter the house minutes before. a grin forms on miles' face and he clears his throat to catch their attention, shifting into a more ready position.
