starter for @enviious
It whistles ( prettily, in a way its voice is not to human ears ) as it strides through its medical bay, in high spirits despite the recent changes forced upon it. The Sanctuary is no home ( is no warehouse full of beautiful, easily stirred corpses for it to pick away at ) but it gets to practice medicine, and a more varied kind too. It still itches to continue its research, but for now its job is new and shiny, and keeping its urges at bay.
One of its underlings, whose name it does not care to remember, indicates a bed ( with fresh meat, no doubt ) and it sweeps the privacy curtain aside with one long, bony hand and hunches down, small yellow eyes greedily scanning for injury. Clarabelle is supposed to be somewhere behind it, taking notes because it is her job, but she has wandered off and it has never needed notes, so it does not care, other than for the scolding it will get to give her.
“What seems to be the problem?” The “miss” slips its mind; it is not polite by habit, nor does the title come naturally to it.
💋 *sLAMS SEND*
“happy valentine’s day, carri.” ghastly murmured. his fingertips ghosted along her cheek as he smiled and dipped to kiss her again. “i have dinner waiting, and i’ve made you a little something else.”
54 for Ghas and Carri (bring the angst)
54. things you always meant to say but never got the chance (aka buckle the fuck up imelda)
Ghastly always meant to tell her how much she meant to him. Really, he did. But something always came up, or he always second guessed himself. What would someone like Carribia want with someone like him? He tried his best to convey his intent through gestures of banana bread and tea. He suspected she’d never understand.
He meant to ask her on a date. The one day he had plucked up the courage was the day that they had been whisked away into war, and then it was all formality rather than familiarity. It wasn’t the time or the place (when was it ever) and he could see his opportunity slipping away as the battle plans were put into place.
He meant to tell her he loved her. But then he’d entered her tent the night before Roarhaven and she’d kissed him and his words had left him. And now, he was staring at the severed head of a friend as he bled out on the floor, at the hands of his own personal Judas. It was too late. He meant to tell her he loved her. And now, he’d run out of time.

“ Hey-- W A I T --- “ Her eyes, deep brown, like that of a frightened DOE, are caught up after the figure of the strange woman, ( & Cynder cannot help but feel the thrill of adrenaline ) pounding in her chest, begging to burst from her ribs. Coming close to death will do that to you-- ( coming close to death & seeing the prospect of a world that offers A LITTLE MORE-- ) “ Wait, please-- You can’t just L E A V E me here-- What if--- W h a t i f i t c o m e s b a c k ?? Come on, please-- you’re the only person out here, & you-- & you can stop it. If-- if you take me with you, I promise I won’t be useless-- please-- “

❝ the reality is not a pretty picture. ❞
The comment took her her by surprise. However, she had a sneaking feeling what she said was true for the pair of them. Conversations between them before had been few and far between before, but Kalliope didn’t mind making better acquaintances with Carribia Envy.
“I feel the same goes for both of us,” Kalliope gave a single soft laugh, that had an undertone of bitterness. “Anything to drink?”
