Meet Ken Schlesser, an environmental studies and sustainability major from Hometown, Illinois.
Ken picked his major beacuse of the field experience and how most of the classes get you out into nature.
“I have always loved the outdoors and Northern Michigan University allowed me to be in nature while also allowing me to receive a great education.”
Ken is also a member of the 2018 New Student Orientation staff here at NMU and decided to join because he enjoys working with other students and hearing their stories of where they come from and why they picked NMU.
His advice for incoming students is, “Always try something new. It can be something as small as a pasty or something as big as skiing. It doesn’t matter what it is, it should just be something you have not done before!”
