In April, my group wrote a paragraph on trans genetics and why the enviropig should be stopped in the making (read more).
1. It takes millions of dollars to make one pig!
2. When scientists ate the pig, they got leukemia
3. If there poop goes anywhere near a body of water, many orgainsims will die!
Keith Robbins, the spokesman of the enviropig association said "It was going to be benefical to the world". Look where they're at now.
The Univerity of Guelph worked on the enviropig project years. Somehow, they got stopped in production in April. Guess why...... If you guessed reason #1, you are correct! Like I said, it cost millions (five million to be excat) dollars to make one pig! The University Of Guelph went bankrupt. They had no more money and had to give up!
What are they going to do with the current herd of 16 enviropigs?
"One of the options we're looking at is no longer to breeds and generate live enviropigs".
said Lori Bona Hunt, the spokeswoman for the University of Guleph said.
I think this is a sigh of relief for everybody. So nobody has to worry about eating a pig. It's safe....
