Limited edition t-shirts I made for my country’s Brony-con.
1. “Noche de Karaoke” mexican bar style, local beers such as Victoria, Tecate, and XX Lager. National acoholic beverages represented by Twilight’s margarita (tequila) and two posters, one about Pulque wich traditionally is served in several different glasses, the other about Mezcal, wich basically the original tequila (is like wine and champagne, champagne is wine but it separates itself because it comes from Champagne, France; same reason here, mezcal from Tequila, Jalisco is called tequila. Best mezcal comes from Oaxaca btw), and a “Employee Wanted” poster that says “Wanted: Employee who don’t know a thing but follows orders” wich is a reference to a real poster that said the same I once saw in a bar.
2. “BMC Tour” the background instruments are all mexican instruments, from left to right: Jarana huasteca, guitarrón, bajo sexto, tres cuartos-novena, requinto jarocho, jarana veracruzana, arpa jarocha, chaparenque, and a salteria. The musical notes are from “The Magic Inside” actual notes stylized and flowers because my city (in wich the Brony Mexi Con is celebrated) was refered as “the City of Flowers”.
3. “La Historia del Peyote”, using a Conquistador style Fluttershy asking a Purepecha style Treehugger about the peyote plant (choosed over aesthetics rather than accuracy, since huicholes are the native experts on peyote, but the huichol and purepecha art share a lot of similarities) in a huichol painting style, where a Patecatl style Celestia and a Mayahuel style Luna raises the sun and moon over the Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes. Choosing both gods as Patecatl is the god of peyote, and his wife is Mayahuel, godess of pulque, on the underworld however, is a Tlaltecuhtli style Discord (god of chaos)
4. “Muffins” is a parody staring Derpy of the iconic movie Macario, based on a book by the same name in wich a poor farmer shares a chicken with Death after negating it to the Devil and God. The cast mentioned but not all appearing are: Derpy as Muffins (Macario), Applejack as Death (a poor farmer in the story), Rarity as the Devil (wich was a rich landlord), Granny Smith as God (wich was an old fragile guy) and Lyra and Carrot-top as Derpy’s family. Derpy’s pose is directly taken from one of the book covers, and Applejack’s is taken from an iconic scene, beautifully shot in the Cacahuamilpa grotto also refereded as the “candle scene”. Under the credits is the scene where Derpy shares a muffin with Death.
