“Enzo…” she could tell he was worried again. She wrapped her arms around him from behind and kissed his shoulder. “… she’ll be okay baby…she’s your mother after all…”
He let his head fall back to gently bump against hers, a heavy sigh slipping out as stared at the ceiling; his mother’s health had stagnated for quite some time, so he’d fooled himself into thinking she’d be alright... But all good things ended eventually.
“... I hope so, Bella. Perhaps... Perhaps this is just a temporary hiccup...”
He couldn’t ignore how little confidence his words held.
