A scene you enjoyed creating

Hmm this is kinda hard cos I generally dont enjoy thinking about background and stuff, but if one understand this in a broader term, i guess i enjoy thinking of various modern AU for my Solavellan and other Dragon Age character, like imagining how they dress, how they workm their intereactions and stuff. yk the worldbuilding in general.

Something that made you laugh

Not really related to art per se, but my buddy @postboxrose gave me the nickname The Dickologist / Na, PhD in Dickology because of my dicky drawings and it just brigntens my year

Something that inspired you this year

It's been over a year since Dragon Age Veilguards came out, and I still continued to be inspired by it, albeit most of it came from my imagination rather than canon haha.

Mouthwashing has been rewiring my neuron pathways too.

Also been watching many films as always, and Posession has been on my mind as Im working on a video sound artpiece. Severance S2 also left a dent on my psyche ahaha, that series is a cinematic masterpiece.

18. The creation that took the most amount of time.

Technically the second Patrochilles animatic! Took about three months to get it done. It doesn't have a lot of action so there's not a lot of frames and a lot of the motion in it is just camera movements.

Though I'm also working on this portrait of Tlaloc (Mexica god of rain) since August?? So I guess whenever I finish it it will take first place on the "took me the longest" ranking.

19. A scene or image that lives rent-free in your head

You know, one of the things that I wish we got to see in Hades is Achilles fighting (not counting Antos here). And Champion Material by stygius is such a fun fic about it. We get Achilles fighting Theseus for Zagreus' honor while Patroclus and Zagreus watch from the stands, what more could I ask for? A scene in particular I enjoyed was Achilles vaulting himself from the stands to the arena and Theseus' voice wavering after that haha

4. what was the biggest change you experienced this year?

For me, I think the biggest change I got to experience this year was how I’ve gotten to see myself. I got to get comfortable with being gay an hitting at some of my internalized homophobia, do some (or a lot ig?) of flirting that went nowhere but still made me feel like I was being, if that makes any sense. I’ve embraced myself a lot more, honestly, and it’s nice. 

20. how did this year treat you in general?

Okay, honestly, to understand this year you have to understand it in the semesters, TBH. This spring wasn’t bad -- I had a hell of a lot of work, and I bonded with my friends from acapella so much more than I had the semester before. But I felt like I was on top of everything for once. My love life was manageable because I thought the girl I was in love with was straight. I spent my 20th birthday until 4AM in the library with two of my closest friends. Everything was Fine. 

Summer wasn’t too bad either, other than the fact that I kind of fucked up my back going balls to the wall at work. But I got to hang out with my friends in the city when I could, got a lot of free donuts, set off the alarm at work one memorable time. Good shit. Even travelled to the West Coast for the first time. 

Now, fall? Fall fucked me up beyond recognition. A 19-credit semester maybe wasn’t the smartest idea to begin with. Shit Happened in my friend group, and boy, is it still happening. People broke up, people went to the hospital...mental health came for all of our asses. I was falling for people left and right. Girl I’m in love with? Not Straight. Still dating our Music Director. Got accepted abroad, so now my feelings are tinged with This Will Be the Last Time I See You Ever, So I Gotta Shut Up For Only A Little Longer. So now the only things I have in me are regret and exhaustion, TBH.

Most challenging character to write or draw?

istg i have been trying to answer this question since you asked it cos its seriously hard lmao. i think i finally got it, it's Garrus, or rather all turians, because their facial structure is quite unfamiliar, they are not humanoid or animal-like, so it's not intuitive at all. Tho i haven't been drawing them a lot so.

This was in 2021. i still haven't improve lmao. kinda have to stylize him a bit cos i dont have it in me to properly study turian anatomy

1. Describe your journey this year in three words.

Sounds cliché but listen, practice, grow. I've been trying to push myself and find resources that help me improve my art, not only in the aesthetic sense but also how I approach it? I have a bad habit of finding resources that could be helpful and then, not practicing haha. But I've been trying to just get started and figuring it out as I go. I took some classes offered by Effipeonia and I think that really helped me be more curious and excited about applying what I've been learning!

12. A concept you'd like to develop next year.

I've been thinking about this WIP of Achilles recently. I still got plenty of Achilles and Patroclus drawing ideas and I'd like to explore the Iliad more!

Cleansed by Miss_TeaDDK . A lovely Patrochilles character study via their hair! It also includes some beautiful art of Patroclus' hair. It led me to learn more about taking care of locs!

Fanthom and Dream by to6ikka. I need to read more Bapweaver fics (there's only a few asdakfdsl) but I like the descriptions here and I think it captures why I like this ship so much hehe.

16. Something interesting you researched as part of the process

When I was brainstorming the "lesson" prompt from HadesWeek2025, I thought of drawing Zagreus being impressed by Achilles flexing showing his skills with a spear. But then I felt like a more "physical" lesson would be fun to do 🤭 So I ended up looking at videos of different wrestling techniques. I kept looking for a pose where we could see both Zagreus' face (flustered) and Achilles' face (Mentor Mode On). What I ended up trying to illustrate is the "chicken wing" technique. I found a couple of clear videos on how to do it and took a handful of screenshots to use as reference. And ta-da!

17. The creation that took the least amount of time

I think it was that drunk Pat comic based off your post 😂 I don't remember how long exactly it took me but I made two other comics about some OCs in the same week so it couldn't have taken me that long (Three comics in a week that is crazy to me rn).

25. A scene or image that lives rent-free in your head

I've been listening to Only Over You by Fleetwood Mac ever since I read your fic Liminal Spaces and it always reminds me of that AU when it comes on. That scene where Patroclus plays that haunting version of it and Achilles kicks Zagreus out of the room and begs for forgiveness? And later on Zagreus finds them laying together like he did earlier in the story? OOF so good!! I also picture Achilles and Patroclus slow dancing to that song in their kitchen.

22. An idea you had that didn't make the cut

Ohhh this one is interesting. I opened my script for the patrochilles animatic and there's some stuff I had to cut out for pacing reasons.

While I was able to include that scene in TSOA where Achilles returns to Patroclus covered in blood for the first time, I am sad I had to cut off the washing part and how it transitions to Patroclus in Elysium. I also meant to include a scene in the reunion where Pat notices the Achilles' missing lock of hair but decided to focus on the leaping hug.

30. Advice to yourself (and maybe others) for the new year.

Try to be honest on what a drawing is doing for you. Does it need to be that ("perfect") image from your head to communicate what you want it to? Has it become more of a chore? Would it be so bad to share it now and let it be a stepping stone for new drawings?

I know it's so hard because in this vast internet there's so much room for comparison. I think what has helped me in particular is telling myself that it's not fair to others to use their skill as a beating stick for myself. Sharing your art online is daunting, and I'd be sad to hear someone sees my art and feels their own is bad. Creating is a wonderful thing. What a wonderful thing to see growth in each piece, and each one has a bit of you in it!

idk, i need advice from someone haha... maybe idk, trust the process, its gonna be painful to create all the time, but the more you do it the less the pain there is, but its never no pain. in the end its just about if the pain is worth it for the joy it will also give you.
