'Maybe that last swig for luck wasn't the best idea,' Silas thought, walking to the meeting spot that him and Ivy had agreed on. Something about tonight felt familiar, similar to the day he had swallowed his pride and showed up at the bakery after initially blowing her off. He hadn't felt nervous around her, well, hardly ever. Except maybe that day, and definitely now.
The hidden flask in his inside jacket pocket felt heavy, beating against his chest as he walked, hands shoved in his pockets, his tipsy state affecting his ability to find her as easily as he usually could. That and all the people celebrating. He was thankful he decided to drink, not only to take the edge off.
The seas parted, and his eyes met hers for the first time in what felt like weeks, and now his heart really was beating fast, adrenaline mixed with alcohol, pushing him forward. Damn, he really had missed her.
"Hey.. hope I didn't keep you waiting long?" He smiled despite everything, a beat before he was picking her up, pulling her into a hug. “I promised, remember?”
