Another Gem
This situation is forever mood! The audacity of him to steal someone meal’s before the owner and slurped it all clean!
Look how nasty the eyes Joon Hwi gave to Prosecutor Jin but he still so shamelessly gave a remark back while being a super annoying brick.
Nostalgia’s trip (6)
Akachan to Boku (Baby and Me) was one of the earliest stories/anime that I’ve watched as a child that ignited my love for realistic character depiction.
The protagonist is a 10 year boy whose mom died & had tp help raise his toddler brother as father had to work late everyday. He felt robbed of his childhood as kids his age play soccer while he had to look after his brother ,face neighbors’ complains abt the infant’s constant crying. Add his own grief , You CAN‘T expect children to think/do the right thing. To rise up to the responsibilities or surpass the trauma & behave right. That’s a horrible & unfair conception. Children need the space to make mistakes.. to workout their feelings.. to cope healthy.
One of the most realistic scenes in anime ever!!
Ep1, he’s walking out his baby brother, tried from all the responsibilities, suffocated by the burden, hating his baby brother for ruining his picture with his mom with permanent marker. He starts thinking perhaps if I walk faster.. he won’t catch up.. I won’t hear his voice.. he’ll be disappear.. I won’t have to look after him anymore.. I’ll be free.. He walks faster.. the baby cant catch up..the sound of his toddler shoes stops!! he turns around.. his baby brother is no more behind him.. GONE!
The realization kicks in! I hurt my baby brother!.. I failed my mom! I made a mistake! I’m a killer! I’m a bad boy!! he runs to find him & sees him, takes him in his arm, breakdown crying, while the baby is comforting him. This scene killed me. Such realistic depiction of dark thoughts engulfing young undeveloped minds. Such harmful thoughts /actions aren’t as superficial stories depict them to only come from evil/rotten/bad/stupid characters. NO. They come from us, normal ppl, young kids, crushed under dark thoughts.
I know I’m not talking abt Fruits Basket here.. but furuba reminds me of this single scene in this anime so much!!. The difference is that furuba made an entire story of children adopting harmful coping mechanisms for longer periods of their lives to escape/defeate darker more sinister thoughts/ trauma! Oh & the father in Akachan to Boku isn’t a horrible parent at all! so that helps a lot. XD
I hope to write such scenes in my novel one day~
God this moment was badass
