Game Dev Journey No. 31
I have been busy for the last week working on my horror proof of concept prototype, in addition to looking for employment.
This time instead of using my bunny player character, I instead swapped it out with Ripley from Alien 3 for the NES. I have also added an Alien as an enemy, and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. As the assets don't belong to me I’m just using it for testing purposes at the moment.
After 2-3 long days, I was able to get the animations for both Ripley and the Alien to work. One of the main setbacks was not having access to photoshop, as Im still only using my Macbook Air, due to my pc still being in Doha.
I had to instead use a feeble art app from the Itunes Appstore and the OS picture preview app to clean the sprite sheets. You will notice that the Alien and Ripley still has some green/pink background pixels stuck to them in addition to holes in the sprites due to using these bad apps,I have to admit that it worked okay for what I wanted to achieve.
Due to my struggles with the sprite sheets, I just bought a Sketchbook Pro membership, now I will be able to go back to creating my own art assets ;)
I'm growing more frustrated that I cannot work on Epic Adventure Quest as I'm so close to launch, hopefully I will get my pc back at the end of this month. For now however i'll still continue to work on the prototype.
