The world of Animus, deconstructed:
Animus is a grand world full of mystery and adventure, divided up into six major regions. Each contains a drastically different environment to one another.
PSUCHE: The "Soul" region and the tutorial level. The residence of Tikal, Psuche's land was completely warped and distorted due to a tragic event many years ago that wiped out almost all of its inhabitants. Due to this, once entering Psuche the entire region changes appearance to reflect your soul. The world looks different for each person, but the layout remains the same. For Girly, Psuche will take on the shape of a wonderland. The sky is a dark purple and the world is full of rolling hills, where fresh green grass blows in a gentle breeze, and paper flowers, when touched, slowly disintegrate and fall up towards the heavens.
PURA: The "Fire" region and the first level of the game, Pura is well renowned for its bustling city square and fabulous hot springs, which is powered by the large volcano that overshadows the main city. On that volcano are many shrines to the matron goddess of the land. The land itself is very flat and the temperature never seems to drop below 70 degrees.
EPIGEIOS: The "Earth" region and the second level of the game, Epigeios is a vast land full of large rolling hills and deep perilous valleys. The soil is moist and perfect for farming, so Epigeios' people are very healthy and thrive on fresh produce and vegetables. Though the townspeople are soft-spoken, they are hardworking and reliable, and keep the land nurtured. Due to their extra love and care, this land is especially beautiful.
HUDRIA: The "Water" region and the third level of the game, just getting to Hudria is an adventure in itself. Hudria is a land almost submerged in water, only with a small path leading to the cities rocky epicenter, where tropical animals and landscapes thrive. The cave systems ginormous and the waterfalls breathtaking, Hudria is a huge tourist spot for the other regions.
AER: The "Air" region and the fourth level of the game, Aer is the most remote of all the lands. Due to it being made up of various mountain systems, the winds can be treacherous and blizzards are not uncommon near the very top. The cities are nestled into the mountain side, and its citizens are wise to stay inside for the harsh winters. Though this region may seem impossible to bear with throughout the dark months, the springs and summers give birth to beautiful and breathtaking views and sights.
THE DESERT OF MNEMOSYNE: A mysterious desert that separate's the other lands from Skotia. It is very dangerous, and the mirages it gives are said to project the painful memories buried away in a travelers mind. Many who dare venture into this desert, sadly, never return, lost forever in memories past. Only those well equipped, mentally and psychically, should enter here.
SKOTIA: The "Dark" region and the fifth level of the game, Skotia was once a bustling land full of large, thick trees that blocked out the sun and shielded the villagers from the harsh rains. However, ever since a certain incident, the villagers have long since been wiped out and the land reduced a ruin. Used as Scarlet's base of operations, the entire region has been laid to waste, and due to the vast amount of darkness shrouding the land enemies can easily appear and kill those not wary. All that remains is a large castle now, and a flat, barren wasteland...
