This Day is publish’d,
[*] The Epistles of Clio and Strephon; being a Collection of familiar Letters in Verse, that pass’d between an English Lady (every where admired for her Wit) and an English Gentleman in France, who first took an Affection to each other, by reading accidentally one anothers occasional Compositions both in Prose and Verse: To which is prefix’d, a Critical Essay, containing some Remarks upon the Nature of Epistolary and Elegiac Poetry, and of the most beautiful Passages in the whole Collection. Dedicated to Sir Richard Steel, Knt. Printed for J. Hooke at the Flower de Luce against St. Dunstan’s Church in Fleet-street, F. Gyles against Grays-Inn-Gate in Holborn, and W. Boreham at the Angel in Pater-noster-row.

[Note: The ESTC attributes the work to Martha Fowke, and has two entries for this title—T75529 and T75530—which apparently differ only in the presence or absence of the year in the imprint. I am currently away from my copy of Foxon, and so can’t check to see if there’s a further description there (Foxon 282). ]
