It's been a year since I really spoke of this story in this way. I am dendritic to crystal clear never healed but I understand now. Over a year ago I saw a crow and heard it screaming right outside. It sounded like it was saying 'MeMaw' as opposed to the daily call. I called my MeMaw and I knew something wasn't right. She is the one I give credit to anytime I create a medicine bag. I've been making them custom for years and I have them on the website too. Anytime someone asks about them I make sure to mention MeMaw because she taught me how to make them. I told her I could have sworn that crow said her given name by her grandchildren. She told me on the phone to start a new bag for that crow and she wanted to see it. I thought it was for her and was excited to make it. So I started this gray bag. I always told her when I completed one that it was her hands using mine to make them. She liked that. Over the time of making the crow bag my friend Tanja had a few crow digits she had finished up and I knew I needed to add them to the bag. (Remember any animal parts ever used are from owl pellets, hiking finds, even the conservation department finds. Never murdered for their parts. Ever. Tanja's crow digits are no different that's why I felt the medicine could be put on my bag) Tanja also made a chain with little black feathers for me that I attached to the side. (Thank you Tanja for being there for me during this time. You have a piece of my heart) The bag was all ready and I couldn't wait to show my MeMaw. As many of you read last year, my MeMaw actually passed while I was in a vision quest with my Shaman friend SilverLightning. She didn't see the bag. I've worn it out pretty hard this last year. I was just by my window and I heard the crow ... again it sounded like he was saying MeMaw. I realized the crow bag wasn't for her ... she wanted me to make it for me. I filled it with items from the mountain that is her earthly resting place. Rocks, Quartz, seeds/pods, pine needles, etc. It has brought so much comfort over this past year. Thank you MeMaw.
