joohyuk considers himself to be a very... likable person. he wasn’t exactly bragging, but at the same time, he knows where his strengths lie. it’s how people trust him so easily, letting him in on their secrets. suffice to say, joohyuk doesn’t do awkward-- so to see rj avoiding him so early into the school year? well-- he wasn’t about to let that continue.
they weren’t particularly close. not really-- joohyuk does recall that he was there on his last birthday party, but it was more of a friend of a friend kind of knowing each other. so it was completely strange to him how rj seems to just so conveniently avoid passing by him. it wasn’t like they even talked in his party, as far as he could recall. there was really no reason for this.
it’s how he ended up lounging in front of the ravenclaw entrance, keeping a careful eye on the students going in and out of the dorm. he isn’t ashamed to admit that he had sweet-talked a random acquaintance of rj’s, persuading them to give him a rough estimate of the guy’s schedule. it’s maybe after ten minutes or so before the person he’d been waiting for finally shows up, and joohyuk decides that, well, it’s now or never. putting on an easy-going smile, joohyuk approaches the elusive ravenclaw, unashamedly stepping into his personal space. “hey there,” he greets, all smooth and casual, as if he didn’t notice just how awkward rj has been with him. “are you free right now? i was rather hoping to talk to you for a bit,” he continues, making sure to sound hopeful. “if that’s alright?”
