Hazy summer night, EDM beats dripping from his ears, whenever he opened his eyes the whole world was a blur. Everything was neon colored but faded around the edges, not a single room in the house was lit properly. With beer flowing, bass booming, laughter almost nonstop- It was a proper summer party. The kind of party you where you drink too much and end up in bed with someone who’s name you don’t even know.
This was where Lucas thrived.
He weaved in and out of groups; greeting his friends, stopping to chat to new people, grabbing some drinks for a few girls who couldn’t muscle their way into the kitchen. He paused for a moment, sitting on the arm of a couch, to listen to his buddy tell him about his trip to South Africa. He was three drinks in and surrounded by others when he first noticed him. Nervous; the other boy wasn’t in his element like Lucas was, the other could tell immediately with how he kept glancing around to make sure the friend he was with was always within arm’s length. Lucas kept an eye on the boy, who seemed glued to a corner of the house. He knew who he was, vaguely. He’d never paid him much attention, but he knew that he was quiet, he kept to himself a lot, he was a Huffelpuff. Lucas wasn’t sure if it was the alcohol in his system, or the fact that his last relationship had ended over a month ago, but he was suddenly reminded that he was halfway into the summer without anyone to lose himself in. Maybe it was the quickening pace of the music making his heart skip off beat, or maybe it was the quiet boy, cornered, in a party he clearly wasn’t too keen on attending.
⤷ Hogwarts, September 2017.
He tried to beat the sleep out of him, it was the first day of classes and his sleep schedule wasn’t even remotely on track. Lucas had been up half the night with his fellow Gryffindor 7th years, being boisterous and loud as always. He was paying for it now. His first class was going to kill him. He was seated, with the bare minimum of materials needed to get through the day. Surrounded by his friends and lost in conversation he forgot who they were sharing lessons with today. They were having such a laugh already, horsing around on their desks, making jokes at each other’s expense, they barely took any notice to a Huffelpuff boy trying to squeeze himself through their group so he could sit more towards the front. All it took was one swing on Lucas’ arm to cause his books and scrolls and quills to go flying.
Movements were made to get up and help his fellow 7th year but all actions were stopped dead in their tracks once he saw who he’d knocked over.
Gray.
It was cowardly on his part, completely unlike him, to do nothing, but he was afraid. Afraid of what might happen if their skin touched again, if their eyes were to meet. Funny how he’d spent the last half of his summer completely wrapped up in the other, afraid of the opposite. Afraid of what might happen should they break apart. His summer had been full of looking Gray in the eyes, marveling at every tiny fleck of gold he could see. Lips at his disposal to kiss whenever he wanted. He had spent hours mapping his body with his touch, burning the sensation into his memory, the feeling so all-consuming even now he felt like he was aflame.
Truthfully, he didn’t want to think about the consequences of his actions. He wished he could believe the deep chanting in his consciousness; it meant nothing, it was nothing, it was just a summer fling.
It was more than that. That was the sad reality he had to face. Whenever he saw Gray he could feel his heart skip a beat as he’s taken back to that summer night to end all summer nights. Gray was different, Gray was special, Lucas had never met someone so intelligent, caring, funny. From wispy way he laughed when he was out of breath, to how his cheeks would flush with red when he was embarrassed. Everything about him was beautiful to Lucas. But he couldn’t admit it, he wouldn’t admit it. It wasn’t who he was. It wasn’t what he was meant to be. He wasn’t ready to be in love with another boy. Even one so amazing.
There was only one remedy in his mind. He had to be unlike him, he had to be cold and distant. So as soon as he saw who he had bumped into he moved back into his seat, eyes forward as he heard another Gryffindor boy help Gray up, a girl shuffling his things back into a neat pile. He heard the whispers behind him, Lucas had been the one to bump into him and yet he hadn’t made any effort to help the poor guy out.
Dark, the corridors were pitch black, not a single lamp waslit. There was sound, but it was faint and far away. If you listened realclose, you could make out the light chattering coming from three halls down. There was a party going on but it was of no concern to the two students, theywere in a world of their own. Neither had made plans to go to the partyhappening tonight, for once Lucas had his mind set on something else. Someoneelse, a tall boy from another house with a smile so captivating there was scarcelyanything else occupying Lucas’ mind that day. He wasn’t sure why there was aparty, it wasn’t really of any concern to him. He was more focused on the boyin front of him. They were drawn tightly together, foreheads connected, lipsjust barely grazing one another. Cliché as it was, time stood still for the twolovers. With fingers entwined, Lucas looked at the other like his eyes held themoon, the stars and the sun.
Soon, the dark cove they had found became uncomfortable andthey had grown tired of just looking. Hands still laced, the pair quietly madetheir way to a more secluded but cozy spot. The soft timbre of Gray’s laugh wasLucas’ addiction, if there was a sweeter sound he didn’t want to know. In hismind, nothing could compare to pleasing tone emitting from his boyfriend when hesaw where they were heading.
“I’ve never really thought of the Divinations classroom as aprime make out spot”
The look in his eyes, the glint of amusement with a subtlehint of excitement only made Lucas itch for more. Luckily, the professor alwayshad a pile of pillows available. Buried deep inside the cushions he finallyallowed himself to indulge in the boy underneath him.
Lucas wanted this moment to last forever.
Their noses bumped, despite all the experience he had, everything still felt so new, kissing Gray was a completely differentsensation. He took his time, with one of hands cupping the other’s cheek, helanguidly urges their lips together. At some point the other becomes needy, andhe respond in kind. Demanding pecks grace his jaw, as Lucas’ grip on the otherbecomes tighter.
With only the two of the in the expansive room, the onlylight filtering from the outside moonlight, the only noise coming from oneanother,
This was going to be a night neither would forget.
Theo had a book cracked open as he waited for class to start. He wasn’t truly paying attention. Attention mostly on just taking basic notes about every keyword he could find. He hadn’t been getting much sleep that past few days, but that’s how it is when you’ve got tests and papers breathing down your neck. He had bags under his eyes, his smile wasn’t as bright as it was, his movements sluggish. Just two more weeks he told himself. He could power through it, he always did. His hands were moving on their own, pen writing down words but with no comprehension. He rubbed his eyes and yawned a little. How were his fellow classmates dealing with the stress? He wondered, turning his head around with a few creaks and strains due to lack of sleep.
His eyes wandered over to his friend Gray, who normally was much like Theo. Gray was soft smiles, friendliness, always being kind to others. He embodied the spirit of being a Huffelpuff. He was looking and acting less like a true Huffelpuff at the moment. He seemed, off. He seemed jumpy. Theo noticed he had blueish eye bags that matched his own. Gray had a slight tremor in his hands. It made Theo furrow his brow with concern. He kept an eye on his friend all during class; noticed when his head would tip back slightly from lack of sleep before the boy would realize he was drifting and fight his way back to being awake. When the class was over Theo tried to smoothly make his way over to his friend. As they both walked into the hallway Theo stopped him. Grabbing onto his hand he pulled the slightly grumpy, sleep-addled Gray into the Ravenclaw common room with little complaint. Once there he stood in front of his friend,
“Hey man, are you ok?”
His voice was soft, eyes firmly focused on his friend. He wasn’t really sure what he was expecting from him but he felt like he had to ask.

cheek kiss !
darcy could be nice. he could be prickly and rather pretentious sometimes, but he could show his gratitude when someone would do something for him. so when he spotted the hufflepuff, the muggle born skipped his way towards the other. a soft grin on his face, as he gestured for gray to come closer, a little mischevious glint in his eyes as he did so.
and while darcy was only affectionate when he was drunk. an innocent kiss on the cheek wasn’t too much right ?
plus darcy just wanted to see gray’s face upon the action. even if it was a bit dickish.
“ thanks for helping me with that project, i owe you one.” he chimed in cheerfully and pressed a soft kiss on the hufflepuff’s cheek. before laughing to himself as he pulled away from the other, and running off to his next class.
darcy wasn’t one for drawing, but he was taking an art class to blow off some steam during his final year. it was something out of his comfort zone, but alas darcy was always ready to try new things and to succed in his class. though, the latest project had him sketching various magical creatures, and darcy wasn’t really exceling at the project. but! he heard that a hufflepuff in the same year had a lot of expereince with magical creatures, so perhaps he could ask him about said creatures and ask him if his drawings were correct. and partly because darcy was a bit squirmish around said magical creatures.
so when he spotted gray, he couldn’t help but to hurry over him. a smile on his lips as he clutched his sketchbook. “ ‘ello, you’re gray right ? do you mind helping me with something ?”
