In 2000, the Jefferson county public schools (JCPS), that establishes an enrollment plan, in order to maintain a balance on racial integration in schools. However, under this plan no school is allowed to have an enrollment of black students less than 15% and not 50% over if it’s students population. But a couple of parents and a Mother named Meredith was not comfortable with this plan. They then, all sued the school district, arguing that the enrollment classifications for race, violates the 14th amendment, the right to equal protection. Although Meredith didn’t succeed for her first case, she then appealed to the Supreme Court. Meredith establishes that “colored people” should be separated because “they are dangerous”. I believe the JCPS helps maintain racial diversity and I do not agree with Meredith because everyone should have equal access to everything.

The department of Educations office for civil rights shares the rates of the racial inequality that spreads throughout our nations education system. It is most targeted to Hispanics, blacks, children of color. Their studies show that they are the most unequallly treated students in school, even at early age, such as in pre-k. The authors perspective demonstrates that this inequality should stop and I agree as well.
