Equal Pay Day Gathers, Inspires
What an amazing success! Equal Pay Day was everywhere this year. There were articles or editorials across the country. Here in Chicago, the Tribune, Crains, ChicagoNow, FoxNews, and CBS news each covered the day. The Chicago Sun-Times, and Rockford Register printed Letters to the Editor. And a Reuters wire story even mentioned Chicago's rally.
During the hour at Daley Plaza, members of Women in Comedy made us laugh. Luvvie Ajayi cautioned us to not accept pickle juice or all we will get is pickle juice. Toni Preckwinkle gave us perspective on the history of Equal Pay Day. High School freshman Camrynn Lawrence shared her perspective on pay inequity.
Melissa Josephs told us about a Sick Paid Days initiative with City Council. Dorri McWhorter warned that #BBHMM. And to send us back out to the world, Jessica Disu (aka FM Supreme) reminded us that “just because it is the norm don’t mean that it’s right.”
CAN-TV was there to record the event in all it's glory. Check it out! http://tinyurl.com/EPDChiVid
