Hi! Sorry for always asking so many questions - it's just that you're such an inspiring builder and decorator. Do you have any tips on where to find others custom paintings on the gallery? Also any on custom photographs? Love the flamingo one btw. :)

A few weeks back I did a gallery search. I filtered to rooms, and put in “paintings”. You can also search by hashtag. (painting/paintings) A lot of the stuff wasn’t to my liking, and there’s also a lot of stuff that will either label your lot as Modded, or the paintings will be removed when you place the room, so it’s a hit and miss. I found a bunch of good ones that I saved for myself though:

Anna_vel_annA has some nice ones, like the Klimts I used in Amber Way

Althanasia has some cute animal paintings and decent tropical paintings

Rest are just 2-3 paintings from this and that person.

In terms of photographs I only use my own but I imagine you can find some on the gallery if you search “photographs”.

How do you keep coming up with themed kids room! I love it! :)

New stuff pack made life a little bit easier with new child furniture. Otherwise I often plan a room around one object. In this case it was the clown print.

I wish I could play S3... every time I try I get this weird rainbow glitch or error 12.

Error Code 12 means you don’t have enough memory to save your game. Assuming you have at least 4 GB of RAM (although more is ideal; I’ve had Error Code 12s with 8 GB) and you’re not doing many-hours-long marathon play sessions without restarting the game, the problem is probably that your save game is bloated. First of all, ALWAYS make sure that memories are disabled. Also, it doesn’t hurt to limit your Sims’ traveling; WA traveling majorly bloats your save game. You can check the size of your home world file in the save game folder, but if you’re getting repeated Error Code 12s it’s safe to say it’s just gotten quite big. You can use Kuree’s Save Cleaner to delete memories and other unneeded SNAP resources; if it’s an older save game you will notice the difference in size immediately. Also, after you’ve made sure that you’ve disabled memories and cleaned up your save game, use “save as” instead of “save” when saving your game, and if you do get an Error Code 12, try switching to another household and saving. Exit and restart your game immediately if you do manage to get it to save; don’t keep playing after you’ve gotten the error. I have a theory that it works if you switch to a household with just a single Sim and not much going on, but that’s just my own observation. Of course use Error Trap and Overwatch.

I’ve never had the rainbow glitch (I’m not even sure what it is?), but maybe someone else has some tips for you regarding that.

@equesst, hey! Sorry to delay. Light and shadow! It’s very ordinary photo theory, but I always keep this in mind. I love shading. I think It gives depth and some touchy overtones. And right now I’m totally hooked on cocktail lighting. ; P

You have inspired me to create my own townies with their own families and homes and stories without cc :) I have a feeling it’s going to be difficult with such pretty items floating around.

Sounds fun! You don’t need to give up CC if it makes you happy. If you want to cut down, get rid of everything except the stuff you truly can’t play without. Chances are, the more time goes by and the more expansions/stuff packs are released, the less CC you’ll need anyway.

Also, you could start of doing one thing first - populate the world with your own townies, or build your own lots. You might get overwhelmed doing both things at once, since it’s quite a bit of work. Wouldn’t want you to get frustrated and lose interest in the game.
