Do you think Carter loves county so much bc it's the first place he's been where people like him for who he is and not what his family can do for them?

Seen as I've gone from Jurassic Park to ER so far this year, I can't help but notice some nice parallels:
Dr Roberta (Bobbie) Carter in JP (the novel) vs Dr John Carter in ER, both of whom did their residencies at hospitals in Chicago.
ER 9x01 is called Chaos Theory.
William H. Macy played both Dr Morgenstern in ER and Mr Kirby in JP3.
Richard Schiff (Eddie Carr from The Lost World) was a guest star as a patient in ER.
Mark's speech to Carter in 1x01 which is later echoed by Carter to Gallant in 8x20 totally reminds me of Alan's grief speech after he thinks Billy is dead in JP3:
Trevor Morgan (Eric Kirby from JP3) played Scott Anspaugh (Dr Anspaugh's son) for several episodes before his character sadly passed away from cancer, although kudos to the show for making me cry by using Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) by Green Day at his funeral.
I'm sure there are more that I haven't come across yet, so I will probably be back to, once again, connect the dots no one asked for lol.
if Carter had imprinted on a different doctor, if he had been assigned to a different resident on his first day, how different would he be? Picturing various scenes like...
Susan briefly hands Carter little Susie and Kerry scolds her for treating her intern like a babysitter.
Carter shadows Mark and osmoses every detail about Mark's failing marriage, and maybe forms a friendship with Doug.
Learning from Doug and developing more of a resentment toward rules and administration.
With Kerry... it goes pretty well to be honest. Maybe he's more... officious in his attempt at emulation? Perhaps in the name of making the hospital run more efficiently? People still like him but it doesn't make him any friends.
It would be very funny if in every universe he's like '...what if i switched to Dr. Benton 😳 -I mean, surgery. Surgery! What if I switched to surgery? 👀'
saving Lucy by imagining Carter and Benton in a soulmates situation where they feel each other's pain
The second gay marriage is legalized Carter and Benton make eye contact and immediately propose to one another. Benton gets down on one knee, which Carter can't do quickly with his back so he doesn't even try. But while they talk over each Carter finishes his proposal first, a short 'marry me' with soft eyes and a soft smile that slowly widens as Benton gets up off the floor with a stupid beautiful look on his face and kisses him. They part and talk over each other again as they say 'yes'. They laugh and kiss and make love, then quickly put their clothes on to get the paperwork together and get to the courthouse as soon as possible in case it's suddenly repealed. They talk and plan for an official wedding in the spring while they spend the days wrangling it all together.
Both of them insist to the other that they proposed first. For the rest of their lives, they rehash the old argument, only half serious, again and again.
Kerry, disheveled and covered in lipstick after having lesbian sex for the first time: 'am i... gay?'
Randi, half dressed and carefully reapplying her makeup: 'i dunno. sure.'
I tried to imagine a noir mystery setting with Carter as the love interest for fun, but the only er 1994 character I can think of to fill the private detective niche is Kerry. Carter can be relegated to her semi-terrible secretary instead. I bet he was indirectly cut off for helping her with an investigation and she feels bad for him.
Anyway, please imagine PI Kerry who does some of the legwork herself, but she often has to hire people to investigate for her/bring people to her office for her to interrogate a la nero wolfe. People tend to notice a person with a crutch tailing them and pain issues always flare up when it's least convenient.
...mysterious client Jeanie Boulet shows up on her doorstep. She asks for a tail on her husband and perhaps something more...?
...after surviving a near fatal car accident, Doug Ross believes someone is after him. But how do you narrow down the suspect list when it contains half the women in Chicago...?
...and who is Randi, the femme fatale who would actually be a much better secretary...?
Carter and Luka don't get along bc they fucked once when Carter was backpacking across Europe and Luka doesn't remember.
