How to introduce Allah to your kids?
Through your complete faith in Allah
Through Allah's evidence all around us
Through His words
Through His names
Please don't ignore their questions
How to introduce deen to your kids?
The best way is to start with the story of Adam AS. That will teach them the creation of mankind, and who is our biggest enemy.
Maa ka khwaab by Iqbal
Today I heard a session about this beautiful poem of Iqbal.
It teaches me that mothers shouldn't be overly protective for their children. It kills the spark in them, the creativity in them. Give them exposure, let them build and develop into this amazing person inshallah. Let them take risks.
It also reminded me of what Hazrat Maryam's mother said before her birth that I relieve my child of expectations (just a summarization).
We have become so materialistic. We think we want the best for our children by expecting them to excel in the worldly affairs. We don't them to be the change-bearers, to make sacrifices, to take risks.
May Allah help us be very good parents. Our knowledge and our ways will always be incomplete and imperfect. It is only You who can guide us to the Straight Path and protect us and do the best for us. O Allah, we are always in need of your help, so please help us. Ameen
I think I need to note this down because I'm afraid I'll forget it and I never want to forget it. I learnt some parenting tips today.
1. Communicate with your child in the language you're the best at. In my case it's urdu. I plan to do story telling in that language, teach my child poems in that language, after a certain teach them how to read and write in that language, to sing in that language, excel in that language inshallah. Big ideas can only be transferred to your child from you in the language you excel in.
The second language, which in my case is English, they'll learn from the environment, and they'll do fine in it inshallah.
2. Give your child plenty of exposure. Let them observe the sky before the skyscrapers. Travel with them, meet a lot of diverse people with them, read books with them.
3. مرروبیت۔
Stay away from it. Do not get influenced by people and their materialism. Stay close to the people of knowledge. Know what's a trend and and you should be able to challenge it if you think that needs to be done. Only Prophet PBUH was a complete human in every sense. Everyone else is afterall a human. Stay away from comparison.
