Ravens WR Rashod Bateman wasn't very happy with GM Eric Decosta's take on drafting wide receivers. But Bateman later offered his apologies. 😂
While Las Vegas Raiders fans are rejoicing Maxx Crosby ended up back home with their team, the Baltimore Ravens might end up regretting their highly-scrutinized decision.
The Baltimore Ravens 30th Season Will Be a Memorable One.
By: Nathan Snell “When I saw those Mayflower Moving trucks on TV, it literally suck the life out of the city. A team I grew up watching was gone, and a part of me was gone.” That was March 29th, 1984, as my father told me. The Baltimore Colts relocated to Indianapolis, and for 12 years, Baltimore was without an NFL team. The city had the Baltimore Stars, but the USFL league folded in 1986 before…
Return to Sender: Ravens Snag Electric WR Wester to Juice Up Special Teams (and Offense?)!
Looking to add some serious juice to their special teams and another dynamic weapon to their receiving corps, the Baltimore Ravens dipped into the Colorado talent pool and snagged wide receiver LaJohntay Wester in the sixth round (pick No. 203) of the NFL Draft. And Ravens GM Eric DeCosta is already hinting at a potential immediate role for this electrifying playmaker!
Standing at a compact 5-foot-9, 170 pounds, Wester boasts a similar build to Ravens Pro Bowl receiver Zay Flowers. And just like Flowers, this kid plays with a big heart and a ton of toughness. But where Wester could make an instant impact is in the punt return game, a spot that saw a revolving door of players for the Ravens in 2024.
DeCosta made it crystal clear what stood out about Wester: "What stands out about him is really his returnability. If you watch him, we think he's a twitchy, explosive punt returner... We think Wester has a chance to really come in here and be an impact punt return for us, so [we're] excited about him."
The tape backs it up. Wester notched two punt return touchdowns during his college career and averaged a solid 11.2 yards per return. His stop-start ability, dynamic acceleration, and speed make him tailor-made for the job. He even clocked a respectable 4.46-second 40-yard dash at the Combine, proving he's got the wheels.
But Wester isn't just a special teams ace. He was a highly productive offensive player throughout his five-year college career, finishing with the sixth-most receptions (326) in FBS history!
He spent his first four seasons at Florida Atlantic, where he exploded in 2023, hauling in a massive 108 catches for 1,168 yards and eight touchdowns. Then, in his single season at Colorado, he continued to produce, grabbing 74 receptions for 931 yards and 10 touchdowns. Coaches clearly knew how to utilize his skillset, getting the ball in his hands quickly and letting his quickness and ability to make defenders miss do the rest. He primarily lined up in the slot and could develop into a valuable backup option for Zay Flowers down the line.
Bleacher Banter's Take:
The Ravens are getting a player with legitimate return game prowess, something they've been searching for. Wester's explosiveness and knack for finding the endzone on punts could be a game-changer for their special teams unit. Plus, his impressive receiving numbers show he's more than just a return specialist. He's a legitimate offensive weapon in space.
While he'll need to prove he can translate his slot production to the NFL level, his quickness and ability to make plays after the catch fit the Ravens' offensive philosophy. Don't be surprised if LaJohntay Wester carves out an immediate role on special teams and potentially becomes a sneaky good offensive contributor for Baltimore. This sixth-round pick could be a real steal!

What can the Ravens Afford Post a Lamar Deal?
Pat Mahomes and Lamar Jackson talk were all anyone could blab about when the “half billi” deal went down last week. We know that Lamar is going to get a similar deal annually, but maybe not longevity-wise. Today, let’s not focus on Lamar. I would like to see what that type of deal is going to do to a couple of other guys on the roster.
Guys like Ronni…
