Home Sweet Home | TV | Mike Leigh | 1982

The three male proagonists of Mike Leigh’s Home Sweet Home (Timothy Spall, Eric Richard, and Tim Barker) are Postmen. This doesn’t play a huge part in the story but it was kind of nostalgic for me to see things as they used to be, the TV play being made a couple of years before I joined Royal Mail.

The mixture of the dark grey winter uniform and the lighter summer one with it’s Showaddywaddy-esque cut and dark trim, the old style sorting frames, delivering on bikes, finishing work around midday, all just a memory now!
