My Aquarius birthday season always finds me meditating on my returning to self and my understanding of my life this time around as a Black being who CREATES SPACES for imagination, exhibition, healing, and ceremony. One of the privileges Of being able to #shelterinplace was being able to envision and being to fruition yet another opportunity for arts practice and freedomwork as part of my own #socialpractice through the co-founding of @blackspaceresidency with my sister friend #EricaDeeman as yet another example of @artistasfirstresponder which is the platform I authored to highlight artists whose creative practices Heal Communities and Save Lives. I’m happy and honored today to share about the journey with my Comrades in public over the next several months! The Museum of the African Diaspora is pleased to present the first in a series of panel discussions featuring the organizers and artists behind Black [Space] Residency, a physical container for imagination, inquiry, activity and rest for Black creatives located at @1240minnesotastreet Studios.
